Okay, she fires up and runs, but is very tappety as she's been standing for a while. Should I do anything? Additives or something? I'll bung in some fresh petrol too. It appears to be a mixture of things and the many combinations of parts and mucking around has sorted it for now. The new iggy...

Thanks, I've done most of that and put in a new resistor with no result. The only thing I can do is swap out another ignition amp. I ordered up a top brand one and I'll see. I'm so used to popping a dizzy in and out I can do it blindfolded and usually first time :). I'll check the air gap on...

It's the resistor in the coil circuit, the one inside the loom and all wrapped up. It's connected to the b\w wire on route to the coil. I have my suspicions about this little fella.

Right, the new resistor I put in the loom is reading 7965 ohms. It should be 6.8k or so, and only 2v across it, but it came with the car as a spare Anyone know the new part number? How do I make my own?

Next, I wnet thorough all the tests again and this time the oily fails are the yellow and white wire, which goes to the injectors. I traced the wires and it seems fine. I see nothing that would stop me getting a spark. Hmmf. I have to get this going or it's going to the scrappers as there be...

Sigh... Nadda. So I did the tests again in the electrical section and I get the following: Bat - to + on coil = 0 BAt - to - on coil = 12.2v 7.6mv on amp ground 3500ohms on the dizzy pickup Bat + to coil + ignition off = 12.8 volts ( should be 0) Ignition on = 15mv !?!?! and same at crank. Can...

Yep, I did all the tests in Rave.... all fine!!!! Coils are fine. Sigh....I'm getting a bit ratty at the machine.

Duff probe on me meter. Got 12v all the way to the coil, ignition checked and good. Still no spark. Suspecting ECU or distributor, but I get no spark after coil lead again?

To continue: I have 12v on fatty white wire at ignition switch. Said wire runs in to the main loom to the right and I assume it twists back towards the fuse box on the left. Hmm. Tell me, what is the big pile of black wires that run in to a connector that's bolted to an earth on the side wall...

I've got nowt at fuse C3 0.01ma So....tracing that wire from fuse C3 (big fat white one) , it appears to run straight to the ignition. So, that's for tomorrow if I can find time.

Thanks for the efforts. Much appreciated. Currently I'm looking at all splices and solder joints to see if summit is going on. I'll do the wire bypass when I get back from walking the dog. Some interesting reading in that document. Thanks again.

The battery was tested as fine, but not perfect. Everything works at pos 2..blower. lights, etc. There has to be something going on between the blue white wire and fuse c3 or from the ignition switch onwards. That's the task for today. Silly question, but is there a relation of the tacho wire...

Still, not a sausage. Can a duff ignition switch cause a crank, but no spark?
