Classic Starting Woes...click-clunk ...no dash lights.

After finishing my engineering exams and stuff I went to start the classic up after she was sitting for six months. I fitted a new battery and there was just a click and a clunk. The starter wires were roasting hot after trying a few times so I assumed the starter. I fitted the spare starter and...

    Classic Rear stub inner seal

Thanks James. It's just weird that the Cat had a seal for my vin, but as I've found out my vehicle was one of the last 1992 models before upgrade so it is put together a bit weird. All seems fine now anyway.

    Classic Rear stub inner seal

Yes I have and both replaced with bearings and they seem to do the job just fine. The Microcat said there is a seal on the inner stub, but it appears that is only for ABS models (perhaps).

    Classic Rear stub inner seal

Hi folks, I was doing me bearing at the rear as I had an oil leak at one of the hubs and so replaced seals as well. It turns out my stub axle had no inner seal as so I went to order some. The correct part is FTC951, but this has been superseded by FTC3145 which simply does not fit as it is...

Classic Wiring problems and advice please

Thanks very much guys. With the new wiring she starts much better, right on the button! My home made remote position is nearly finished and the timing is also spot on. When I striped the wiring back the copper was all black and flaky. Thanks again lads

Classic Wiring problems and advice please

1992 3.9 auto My RR wasn't starting and I found the problem was the two pin to three pin adapter....it disintegrated and fell off due to its poor quality. I've rigged up my own wires but I need to know which one goes where. Looking at the RR from the front, is the white wire to the back of the...

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

Well then, I popped my spare dizzy in and same results. You got me thinking about the ECU and wammers talking about the wiring. I have the adaptor wire for the three pin amp and I was checking the ECU wire is it was Idling so high on the revs. The wire seemed fine, but on looking in the plug I...

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

So then, I was out fiddling and I still had the vac advance off and blocked for static timing. I shoved it back on and it started. It was revving about 1800rpm and when I tried to retard it a smidgen it just died and would not start again. When it's running it's all vroom vroom and sounds...

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

I did poke my finger through when I had the sump off and the chain is very, very slack. I'm going from there. I have parts whizzing their way to me. I ordered better quality stuff.

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

I have a spare dizzy, so I'll pop that in and see. I have been told that the cam timing and all the other stuff can get out of line and I'll have to take a peek inside. It's just weird that I have to reset the timing all the time i want to restart. One more thing; when I was trying to retard...

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

yep, I need to withdraw the dizzy and redo static timing and then it will start again no problem. When I come to start it again, I need to do the same over. Bizarre.

Classic I need to reset timing for every start......

As the title, I need to reset the timing to get it to start - every time. It will start and run fine, but I go to start it in a couple of days and it just cranks. Once I redo the timing, then bingo. Is this my timing chain? It was very slack, I'm just looking for ideas before I go ahead and do...
