P38A What mods, if any do you have? 🤔

It's only the passive immobiliser that you switch off with the Nanocom ie the one that switches on if you don't start within thirty seconds of unlocking with the fob. You can switch off the EKA but this isn't necessarily a good idea...

P38A What mods, if any do you have? 🤔

As far as I know it's only possible to use a Nanocom/Faultmate to turn off EKA and immobiliser on the diesel. It is possible to disable the immobiliser on the V8 but that involves soldering a board onto the engine ECU...

    L322 long distance drive

I too would like recovery to my home address but there doesn't seem to be any way to obtain it. The best that I found was recovery to a value of up to €300 for a higher insurance premium. It doesn't seem possible to improve on that. I live in Brittany so €300 wouldn't go very far if the car...

    L322 long distance drive

Have you found a decent solution for recovery in France? I have the usual "recover to nearest garage" cover with my French motor insurance but sorely miss the equivalent of RAC/AA/Green Flag etc

    Opinion please

I can't help with the OP but I too had to remove the originals due to corrosion & am looking for new side steps. I found these quite nice looking ones for £290.50 that even include free fitting https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253492694920 but these rather flashy ones at £160.58 + £23.80 shipping seem...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I don't have a DVD player or Bluetooth for phone. The only outdated technology I have is the Etch-A-Sketch sat nav.😀 When I bought the car twelve years ago I knew nothing about P38s but lucked out with a Vogue instead of a base model.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Your P38 is exactly the same colour as mine (Alveston Red). Is it a Vogue too? The same happened to me a few years ago. My mate put his foot on the sidestep & it collapsed. I had to remove the side step at the side of the road.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Do you have a link? I usually get an armful of dirty oil & a puddle on the garage floor when I change the oil on my P38.

P38A Should I get LHD headlights?

For a £100 I would grab them too but £290 for a tatty pair seems a bit too much.

P38A Should I get LHD headlights?

I live in France half of the time & have re-registered my RHD 2001 Vogue. It passed the CT last time with beam benders on the headlights. I don't drive at night much & the headlights seem adequate when I do but I did wonder if it was worthwhile fitting LHD headlights. I recall years ago when I...

P38A Which diagnostic tool to use?

I have a Nanocom but I prefer the interface of Storey Wilson's EAS Unlock which runs on Windows. I purchased a licence for the V4 version of the software. It does most everything that the Nanocom can do but is easier to use. I have been running EAS Unlock in a virtual machine on my MacBook Pro...

P38A Air suspension not rising in one corner

Thanks I will give that a go. I still can't quite believe how ridiculously cheap these tablets are.

P38A Air suspension not rising in one corner

Indeed you are correct. As a tablet I don't find it as nice to use as an iPad but I think that's partly because its touch screen seems less precise but also the need for a double click rather than a single click to launch applications.

P38A Air suspension not rising in one corner

I just got a HP ElitePad PRO G2-1000 running Windows 12 for £74.99. It runs EAS Unlock perfectly. It came with an OTG USB adapter & works with the cable that Storey sent me when I bought the V4 licence. It didn't work with a couple of other cables that I have that were purchased on eBay as there...

P38A Looking to buy first P38 4.6, any quick notes?

Compared to later model Range Rovers the P38 is easy to work on & spare parts are cheap. There are a few parts that are only available from vehicle dismantlers but most everything is available cheap on eBay. The P38 has an undeserved reputation for unreliability but as long as they are serviced...

P38A EAS -prior minor issues then failure - no real accumulating indicators

I run the EASunlock software in a Windows virtual machine on my MacBook Pro but would like something that I could leave in the car so it would be available when I was out & about. The recommended HP Stream 7 Windows 8 tablet is getting a bit old now & looking on eBay a bit rare. I saw on eBay...

    VIN mystery?

It correctly identified mine as a 2001 in Alveston Red with Lightstone/Burgundy interior trim.

    2.5 ton paperweight??

I think that the BECM remembers the alarm state if the battery is removed. It's a security feature of course.

P38A Cruise Control - Armchair theorists required for ideas and help.

The most annoying feature with mine is overshooting the set speed when pressing RES. When running it holds the set speed tightly on the level or a mild incline but can run overspeed downhill as it only adjust the accelerator & cannot give a dab on the brakes so you can inadvertently exceed the...

P38A Cruise Control - Armchair theorists required for ideas and help.

I find the cruise control on my 2001 Vogue is functional but pretty crude compared to the cruise control on my 2006 Jaguar S-type. The cruise control on the Jag allows me to tap +/- buttons to increase/decrease speed & keeps to the set speed much better than the P38 which can hover around by a...
