Bought some sockets and ratchet. Spent a bit more than I wanted too as typically they'd sold out of the one at Asda. Got starter off, despite being new, didn't look too happy inside. Gave a good clean got rid of dust etc and graphite on teeth. Since, no issues... Hopefully that will continue.

well yes that would do too. But socket would be nice to undo bolts on exhaust down pipe.

Hmm unusual because if I boot it at 60 or so I get a bit of black smoke so don't think it is running lean.

Solenoid is think is fine, just gunked up. Likely with clutch dust from a year or so ago when the clutch had a slipping problem caused by faulty master cylinder.

Think it might be worth getting a cheap set from asda or something just to do this job? Recall seeing one quite cheap other day... So frustrating when I've got me good set back home

My tuned 90 accelerates nicely but doesn't like going past 60. It will do 70 odd but not happily. I'm on 31" tyres. Does that sound right?

Indeed but it would be safe to assume i don't given the pump appears to be doing nothing? Does seem strange though how the fuel level started a little above empty with light on and then soon dropped to nothing with the light off. I will check tomorrow anyway and the fuses too. Just seems...

I haven't touched the fuel pump itself no. I can see the connector that goes onto the fuel pump in the tank next to the two fuel lines through the hatch in the boot floor. Seemingly though I must have disconnected something in-between?
