    HP FUEL PUMP TD4

Oh dear. Sorry to be bearer of bad news, the reason the HP pulley has moved is due to tension on timing chain and valve springs etc. You may be able to pull it back into line, but not without the tool fitting. Do you know why the tool didn't fit? Is the pump bent? If that pulley moves too much...

Freelander 1 Headlining Replacement - completed

A time saving update. Doing the headliner in the Sport now. Tried taking all one side trim out then folding back seat and winding front seat back on the same side. Headliner drops and un hooks from side with trim still fitted. Means you only have to take one side trim out. Going to try an...

    Rapid kerchunk sound on acceleration

Get underneath, grab the point where the diff connects to the prop and push up and down. You will see the bush has broken I expect.

Freelander 1 TD4 oil leak. Cam cover ? and over boost

Fitted new turbo solenoid. No more power reductions and no fault codes for boost problems, however, the live data states that the boost is still hitting 248 Kpa inlet manifold pressure on occasions. None of my other TD4's get over 220 Kpa and it does seem that 248 is the max so not sure what...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Having driven one with a broken belt, it is a safety item as the steering goes too stiff for some to steer. As above, don't think it is an MOT item in UK but probably should be.

    HP FUEL PUMP TD4

You can lock the drive plate on an auto. But for HP pump would question why you would do that. Use the tool above.

FL1 Front Drive Shafts + More

Do the seals for the extra cost. Otherwise it is shafts out again later. I find, a small chunk of hard wood on the joint and a sharp smack with a large hammer pulls the shaft out. It is held by a circlip on the shaft in a recess so smart and hard is better than lots of gentle whacks.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yes. Just 2 wire clips top and bottom. Many places sell boots. I use Poly ones as they last longer. Measure top and bottom diameter and depth and get nearest. I use https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product-category/polyboots/

What have you done to your Freelander today

Fit new boots to old ones and keep for spares for when new ones fail. The heavy duty ones seem better. Originals are still best.

Good luck. If it is too shiny underneath they may fail it on glare back !!

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Immobiliser

All my old classics, used to add a simple 2 pole switch so that the switch in isolate position stopped cranking and sounded horn when cranked ! You can't stop them breaking in but can stop a drive away and also make a lot of noise ! Should be simple with a switch and a relay. Even a key switch ?
