    P38A The arrival of a P38

Mine's an early one. Sure I put the values in a post somewhere and possibly an EDC trace from the Nanocom if he wants to compare the values. Might have called it something like EDCfuelling.xlsb Mine's Late EDC in the settings but as far as I remember that is just the security code setting.

    P38A The arrival of a P38

I'd leave that setting at 128 rpm. Adjust idle on pump top to 750 rpm. Lift sensor rpm will follow crank. You'll see them diverge as you accelerate or drop off the throttle. White smoke sounds like too much diesel going through. Air temp will make a difference. Too high probably makes it run...

    P38A V8 waterpump

Later v8 with the Thor engine. Anyone know who the original manufacturer was? Is it like the diesel and there's a metal impellar version that is preferred over the original? Recommendations?!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Washed it. 3 attempts required, the last one using neat detergent. Tried to fix the crack in the windscreen but is is too big. Even with the glorious sunshine today it struggled to cure. Also noticed my rear diff is leaking at the seal with the propshaft. Grrrrrr....

    Advice? Should I upgrade to a 405?

I think Land Cruiser reliability went down shortly after they started fitting air suspension to them! Lexus are reasonably priced second hand. Not sure what they're rated at for towing. Possibly limited by no low range. Never seen one with a tow-bar.

    key Fob/Central locking

If that black wire isn't tied up properly it can foul on the window mechanism and break inside. All 3 microswitches need to be working for the EKA input. Boot grounds through the centre one. There's a test sheet on here somewhere.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Been driving around with no warnings which has spooked me. Heavy rain yesterday so flooding yesterday and today. Road closed due to flooding but just set to wading height, opened the window to check the depth and just eased through. Pretty much had the road to myself after that which was nice.

Odd, Range Rovers used to come equipped with a rather decent bottle-jack.

P38A Rear hub assembly FTC3223 from Eurospares anyone tried them?

Might be worth me trying with yours. Mine are bound to fail at some stage.

    P38A Zf4 hp24 input shaft!!

I think @ovalandrover did this swap to one of his. Some of the HP24 boxes are supposed to be a straight swap but I think the general opnion on here is that some need the input and oil pump assembly swapped over. Never tried it though.

    P38A Intercooler Hose

As long as most of it is out it will be OK. Diesel seems to be way more volatile these days, possibly the ethanol or biodiesel content. Either way, it isn't like the waxy stuff of old. Petrol or acetone definitely better though, especially for the final rinse.

Diesel will be fine. I used petrol last time and then left it in the sun to dry.

P38A Battery Cable loose in Clamp

MrGorsky's was loose so I made a copper spacer with a piece of copper pipe from my plumbing stuff.

Eas system holds air then drops after driving and turn off

The relay is needed for the EAS to work properly. It can be replaced with a normal automotive relay and the system will work but not self-level although it will not talk to diagnostics like that. Might be worth checking height calibration. If it is outside expected values (defaults are on here...

I ordered one from Ulster in the end. Don't know if I need it but they seem to be getting rare so thought I had best get one in stock. From here: https://www.rotatingelectrics.co.uk

P38A Fixed- Battery going flat again

Platinum was 643X last time I bought one, iirc. I had to deliver it to work because they wouldn't post to private address for some reason. I found Platinum the best. I don't rate the MF31. EDIT: might have been 642X. Cannot remember which.
