Last resort, is rad blocked and causing pressurising problems?

I found this on another forum: 300 Tdi Radiator - Technical - Cape Land Rover Club News Site Is this what you mean by a proper one that circulates correctly?

Last resort, is rad blocked and causing pressurising problems?

New OEM water pump (Airtek), I had the rad out and flushed/reverse flushed. Hoses are warm, not hot. It's a definite bottom corner of the rad that warms up, the rest is just stone cold. I'll call Kempston rads, what did they charge?

Last resort, is rad blocked and causing pressurising problems?

Isn't that part of the thermostat? I just fitted a new OEM stat as part of my cover all possibilities approach. ****ed off that I've done a needless head gasket but I'll chalk it up to being preventative rather than have it fail!

Last resort, is rad blocked and causing pressurising problems?

D1 300tdi I've had a serious pressurising problem which I've covered in another thread. Eventually changed head gasket (Elring) although old one looked fine as well as having head pressure tested and skimmed. My local indie LR people said to take an age to bleed it and and then some, they can...

    300tdi - Head Gasket??

Looks like I was being optimistic. Just got home and, as ever recently, checked my top hose. Quite pressurised but not solid. Loads of pressure in expansion tank and big rush when I took the cap off. Water level down about half an inch. All this for about 30 miles of motoring spread over...

    Part Number for Bolts

I got the three long bolts from Island 4x4 with my last order, 99p each. Check eBay for those too. The others you'll just have to match. 300tdi water pump bolts items - Get great deals on Vehicle Parts Accessories items on eBay UK! I only replaced the three long ones and re-used all the...

    300tdi - Head Gasket??

Thanks Shocker and Nrgserv for the replies. Yes, I'd had heaters blowing on full hot and yes as I revved and idled the engine the coolant would noticeably rise and fall. Front wheels on ramps and parked uphill so encouraging all air to the thermostat bung. Think I may have been dealt a hand...

    300tdi - Head Gasket??

OK, I know I posted another thread about my coolant leak but things have taken a significant turn today so wanted a new title. Fitted new thermostat housing gasket, P-Gasket, new Airtek water pump, new expansion tank and cap. One bolt sheared undoing the power steering pump but we decided...

Thinking of getting a newer Disco

Peeps around me are trying to talk me out of a TD5 but having had the 300tdi for nearly 11 years I know I want another Disco. I'm happy to do what I can to keep costs down but anything major I would need to concede to lack of ability. I've been fed tales of water pumps, steering boxes/pumps...

Is G after a Britpart part number always genuine?

Thanks Tony, I've got some Blue Hylomar so I'll use the ****part P-Gasket with a smearing of that on both sides.

Is G after a Britpart part number always genuine?

Just received a get well kit for the Disco: New expansion tank & cap, Airtek water pump, P-Gasket and 3 new long bolts. P-Gasket was ordered as OEM and is a Britpart PET100790G - G supposedly being for genuine. I've been Googling around and another forum had a thread going about ****part...

Freelander 2 wheel drive IDR conversion

Bell Engineering fitted one of their recon VCU's to mine last week and I'm pleased with their service. I admit that a "fake" IRD isn't something I would go for and it could definitely deceive people. However, it also allows owners happy with 2WD only to have a cheaper fix. The IRD should be...

    Which torque wrench?

Doing my P-Gasket next week on the Disco, thought I'd better get myself a torque wrench. Looking at: Sealey STW1011 3/8" Torque Wrench 7-112Nm Micrometer on eBay (end time 16-Sep-10 19:28:36 BST) Halfords | Halfords Professional Torque Wrench 8-60Nm I know the Halfords tool is more money but...

    Discovery 1 Bull Bar

Thanks Jon Think I'll take the view it's been notified since they actually paid for it (as well as the vehicle being inspected at the time by their loss adjuster). Seems a bit late now to actually ring up and "tell" them. I've also just found the bodyshop invoice with it listed which the NFU paid.

    Discovery 1 Bull Bar

Having just been browsing around the forum I'm concerned whether I'm running legal or not as far as my bull bar is concerned. I have a 1997 300 tdi with a full tubular bull bar. It's a genuine part and the "first one" came with the vehicle from a LR dealer (second owner at 2 years old)...

    2WD or not to 2WD

Had the rear subframe welded last week and a new front diff mount. It was advised how "bad" the VCU was so I asked that garage to pop the prop in the boot for me. Hated it in 2WD, sod the fuel economy - road handling is far more important. Had a new (reconditioned) VCU fitted elsewhere...

    Darmain's central locking misery

Similar problems here: Press unlock once - both fronts and o/s/r unlock. 2, 3 or 4 more presses and the n/s/r unlocks and then very slowly.

    Freelander 1 L-Series auxiliary belt

Too busy yesterday but will email them about this. Bought a Gates 6PK1463 from local factor yesterday and went straight on... nuff said. On a side, had new VCU fitted yesterday. Apart from the fact I'd been front wheel drive for a week, what a difference. Enjoyed the full lock experience...

    Freelander 1 L-Series auxiliary belt

Will email the merchant to explain but might be as well to bin the Britpart belt as a refund on that will drop my spend to £53 then I'll have to pay delivery. By the time all done I would only be £3 better off for my hassles. I've never had any problems with Gates belts, top quality stuff. I...
