    Freelander 1 Td4 Air filter

Never have I come across such an awkward cussing air filter housing when refitting. What on earth were BMW thinking when they designed that??

    Freelander 1 Td4 Inlet manifold

Did MAP with contact cleaner. Will leave the heater on full for another hour but feeling like dry hot air coming through now.

    Freelander 1 Td4 Air filter

Yup, took it out and cleaning with contact cleaner. Sorry to double post, just started a new thread about how dry should the manifold be before refitting. It, a merely damp but does it need to be bone dry?

    Freelander 1 Td4 Inlet manifold

Have cleaned with Mr Muscle and pressure washed, don't have time for the full bottle brush treatment but it's 1000's of % better. How dry must it be before refitting? Bone dry or would "damp" suffice? It's not holding any water just damp.

    Freelander 1 Td4 Air filter

I've just got the EGR off and the inlet manifold. Will nip out for a Fram filter and swap again before service. Also have a new BMW cyclone to fit whilst I'm at it and turbo vent filter. Will spray Mr muscle before I go out!!!!

    Freelander 1 Td4 Air filter

I've changed many an air filter in my time and would usually change this one in a flash. It was serviced 6,000 miles ago by a BMW main dealer, service book stamped and signed. Unipart air filter rather than BMW off the their shelf and when I checked with their service dept yesterday they didn't...

Freelander 1 Freelander 1 washers slow and weak

I'll have a go over the weekend. Thanks. Bearmach pump with new grommet is under a tenner so might replace it anyway. Does the inner wing fold easy win out looking knackered afterwards?

Freelander 1 Freelander 1 washers slow and weak

When I pull the stalk for the windscreen washers it's ages before the screen wash comes through and even then it's very weak. I swapped to Citroen mist jets which are brilliant in principle but don't even spray above the wiper blades. Have replaced the old ones but will try the Citroen again...

    Weird starting problem TD4

I did have to jump start it 2 weeks ago. I tested the alternator at the time and it was putting out 14.4v. I wonder if it's a CCA drop on the battery although it's started ever since. I've no idea how old the battery is as it came with the car, no dates engraved on the battery like the old days.

    Weird starting problem TD4

Went to the car earlier and it wouldn't start even though turning over well, I then realised the low pressure fuel pump wasn't running, every time I turned the ignition on there was no fuel pump. Anyway, as I sat pondering the situation I flicked the air con switch to off (fan was already off...

Freelander 1 HSE front parking sensors.

Cheers. I'll have to chase the wiring from the sensors and see what's what.

Freelander 1 HSE front parking sensors.

I have a 2006 HSE with front parking sensors but they don't work (haven't owned it long). There's definitely no obvious switch anywhere on the dash and I can't see any aftermarket wiring in the engine bay. Were front sensors ever a factory fit and if so how do I activate or test them? No...

Brake overhaul, Britpart, Bearmach or TRW

I've gone with branded parts: Delphi discs & pads, TRW drums and Ferodo shoes. Sure, I could have saved a tonne of cash with Britpart but I couldn't risk any problems. Just hope all these parts are hassle free now. Cheers

Brake overhaul, Britpart, Bearmach or TRW

Freelander 1 2.0di needs a brake overhaul so ordering drums, shoes, cylinders, discs, pads and various springs, clips, adjusters and extras. Are Britpart still as bad as has always been said? I know the price is very cheap which must say something and I know their bad reputation but a parts guy...

Clutch pedal high but works OK - Freelander 1

A couple of heavy duty cable ties have remedied it. Looped under the pedal back plate and around the pedal, just stops it flying up.

Clutch pedal high but works OK - Freelander 1

About 6 months ago whilst changing gear the clutch pedal sprung up and hit the dash. I depressed the clutch again and it was fine and has been ever since, a total one off - or so I thought. Today it's done it again and it's permanent. I can drive the car OK, either clutching from dash height...

Is it time for a new starter motor?

Thanks for the reply. I know from when I had the starter off last week the bendix moves freely and I also lightly greased the shaft while I was checking it. That said, I removed the starter whilst it was in working condition rather than stuck condition. I suppose I've got to get the starter...

Is it time for a new starter motor?

Hi I have a starting problem with my Freelander 1 2.0 L-Series For a while I had the intermediate clicking of the starter problem and after reading many threads on this forum I bought the repair kit off Fleabay consisting of a new plunger, 2 new contacts and a few odds and sods. The thought...
