    Door window glass mechanism

My wife has just come back in our Discovery 2 and told me that the driver's side window is broken. Apparently she was closing the window using the button on the console when she heard "a click" and broke the mechanism. The window won't rise and just slips down. Can someone please tell me what...

Help with source of oil leak

Checking the rear axle breather pipe to see if it was blocked, I can't see how it is fixed to the axle. Can someone advise please? I didn't want to snap anything off. I blowed and sucked on it but there didn't seem to be any movement, so I'm looking to disconnect it. Also, it went to a connector...

Help with source of oil leak

Thanks for all this advice, and the video. I've not done the job yet as I've just moved house. Would someone please advise on the non-standard tools needed, particularly on the part needed to remove the centralising peg from the pinion flange? I don't recall the man in the video covering this...

Help with source of oil leak

My Discovery 2 has a minor oil leak from the plate just to the front of the rear axle, as shown in the photograph: This is after I'd cleaned up the area and the car has been stood for a day. The oil can be seen forming a drip at the top left hand corner of the plate. The leak appears to be...

    Rear washer electrics

Thanks very much Sierrafery. I'm going to buy myself a new multimeter and re-access the pump and reservoir, then test everything again. My multimeter is a cheap version, and I'm still getting 32V at green wire terminal 1. The battery negative terminal 'lug' is tight but it can be wiggled off by...

    Rear washer electrics

With the engine ticking over I'm getting 32V on line 1, and 0V on line 4, against earth, see pic: I should have mentioned this earlier but the switch activates the wiper arm but does not activate the washer pump. And as previously mentioned, I know that the washer pump is working having swapped...

    Rear washer electrics

Can someone please give a novice amateur motor electrician a few pointers on how to diagnose a fault with a Discovery 2, TD5 rear washer? The rear washer has not worked since I bought the vehicle last year. I accessed the pumps in front of the near side wheel arch and tested them by swapping the...

    Disco 2 Rusty chassis treatment

Your vehicle's chassis sounds like mine when I bought it (except mine had no welding). From recommendations on here, I used Bilt Hamber Dynax-UB: https://www.bilthamber.com/dynax-ub I cleaned off (using sandpaper) all the chassis that I could access and then applied this. I bought two 750ml tins...

Haynes Manual Oil Filter Change Schedule

Thanks. I agree. I find it odd and interesting that the Haynes manual says three years/36K for the oil filter.

Haynes Manual Oil Filter Change Schedule

I've had my Discovery 2, TD5, now for about seven months. I changed all the oils when I bought it. For the engine oil I replaced both filter cartridge and centrifuge at the same time. It's now done just over 4K miles and I am planning to change the engine oil again. While the Haynes manual...

Brilliant! Thank you very much. I've spent ages trying to access these files. Now I've done so! And, the information looks excellent. Andrew

    Rave

Someone on this forum kindly gave me a hyperlink to the Rave manual for my Discovery 2. This was ages ago and I've not been able to view any of the information. Can someone now please help me to understand where the files are and how I can open them ? I unzipped the file and have this...

Disco 2 What is this part?

Regarding the power steering fluid, I'm going to have a look over the Christmas holiday. I've just taken the car on a 1000 mile trip and the fluid level went from maximum to minimum over this journey - so not massive. Has anyone any experience of this stuff: Power Steering Fluid Stop Leak...

Disco 2 What is this part?

Well, I was also thinking of just taking it off and not putting it back on.

Disco 2 What is this part?

I've cleaned up the area today, and will see what happens. One question (as a relatively new D2 owner): What is the easiest way to remove the main undershield? The Haynes manual says that it can be removed by detaching the front end of the prop shaft, but the obstacle appeared to be the centre...

Disco 2 What is this part?

I've just had a look at the part. It's a big unit! Does that 1" screw routinely get opened and closed? My first thought is to tighten it and the grub screw. The wetness appears to come from these threaded parts. I'll have a closer look tomorrow. Andrew

Disco 2 What is this part?

Great. Thanks again. I'll have a go at cleaning it tomorrow and seeing what I can do. Andrew
