my 300tdi is doing this also but its the transfer box. checked my diffs u/j's cv's and shafts, but the t/box has aload of slop on it

300tdistu had one fitted in the front of his 90 said it made aload of difference. He sold hi for around £300 I think.

The d3 had some issues with the clutch failing after low miles, also troublewith the handbrake system, not sure if the d4 has the same problems but you never know with LR. They can be money pits, a lot of electronics on board

Had both me diffs out today as there is slop in the drive train. however both diffs are set correctly, its had new halfshafts,cv's and drive flanges. had the transferbox cover off and there seems to be a lot of play in all three rows of gears, as in top middle and bottom, almost as if they are...

mines been removed inpart anyway. I know longer have a edc injection pump or any other of the problem parts.obd port has been cut out aswell, no abs no air con, justthe basics seem to be ok

if you have an engine crane taking the box off isn't all that bad. I've done clutch's that way on defenders and disco's some find it easier dropping the box were as some find it easier to pull the engine. either ways you have to line up the input shaft

good to know that as we were stopped about 2.5 years ago by the police reason given was that the front reg plate was to high for there anpr camera to read. it was bolted to the lower end of the front grill.

my disco is running 33x12.5x15 tyres will sit at 60-65 my transferbox gave up so swapped it for another thought to be a 1:4 ratio as it pulls a lot better but lost abit of top end. believe denfenders run a 1:6 transferbox.

+1 for beasty. 300's and failed head gaskets go hand in hand. whilst the head's off if it comes to it if they find cracking around the injector and glowplug ports. Follow the bleed instructions and becarefull of the top plastic bung if its not been replaced with a brass one already do it.

Mine does this also. but I also get a mis fire when cold. I've had the injectors checked they are good, I've replaced the piston rings as it was down on compression, I've also done the head gasket, had the valve seats recut,and the valves lapped in. also did the stem seals done. runs well but...
