The sensors for the edc system are fairly well sealed, and the pump can be submerged fine. The loom needs to be sound, and extra loom protection would be advised. The weak link is the ECU. The loom comes into the cab and drops down past the ecu, allowing water in from a dodgy grommet...

As far as i am aware, re syncing is a 2 min job. The receiver never actually forgets the job coding, it just needs to re learn the ID code for the fob, which is done by pressing the buttons in a set way. £50 - rip off £5 - complimentary at best

Don't forget, most fuel cleans have a Cetane/octane booster that makes the engine burn cleaner/read more power which aids the cleaning process. This is what also gives the more power feel.

Blimey, I would be very concerned if your L series was only getting 26mpg. All my previous L series hippo's pulled well into the 30mpg's average, and 42mpg on a run.

Yeah I get about 100 miles out of my auto for 20 quid. But it has no service history and i amy working through it slowly. Injectors are next on my list, they make a huge difference to mpg.

Just had a full service done on my auto box, not had the second oil change done yet. But it drives much better, has more power transmitted up hills, smoother gear changes and has stopped the dipstick popping out of the tube!

Mechanical pump is definitely my choice for robust reliability, but for more precise fuel control which leads to more power and better mpg, the edc system is much better. The vw ecu will need vagcom to interigate it, but the advantage of this is that injection iq, idle iq, timing, compensation...

Does anyone have a pin out diagram for the edc ecu? I have one for the vw ecu, and i have sussed most of the land rover ones. I need it to mock up a test loom. Cheers guys
