    Puma 2.4 Turbo issues

Hi all! To try to fix a turbo underboost fault on my 2007 2.4 Puma, (having already tried the hoses) I tried to order a recon turbo but was told by the seller they don't sell them any more and to buy a new Chinese one from Ebay instead, which they can't compete with. (I've since been told it...

    Warped manifold

Hi all, my 2007 2.4 TDCi has a whistle (actually 2 different ones) relative to turbo speed, sounds like an ambulance siren. Word on the forums says this is likely due to a warped inlet manifold. [EDIT - might not be warped, might just be a failed gasket] Could this also be the cause of my P0299...

    Freelander 1 Freelander EV

What's wrong with a log burning stove with a wacky-racers style chimney? That would work! May not please Ms Thunberg though...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Removed the spare wheel carrier from the back door. Changed the rear door hinges for Optimill ones (well, the top 2 so far. The bottom one is a faf so I'll do that when I've got someone to help). The rear door now closes properly! So much quieter! :)

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Broke a bumper bolt :( 3 came out (with loads of WD40) - 1 didn't. Broke flush with the top of the retaining plate thing Now trying to destroy the plate with a chisel (I have new ones) to get it out!

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Went to replace my number plate lamp with the Optimill one with a reverse camera built in. It seems whoever owned it before had replaced the original with an LED one, which is fine but they clearly had an aversion to connectors, as they have removed them and just soldered the wires and taped...

    2.4 TDCi P0299 code

Thanks. If I get a recon one, is that something that easy enough to replace? I once reconditioned the turbo for an L series Freelander with a kit I got online - but that engine is quite easy to work on.

I would just like to say

The new Dysons are crap. Sharks are much better. (I'm told G-Tech are also good but I haven't tried one myself). If you're going for a Henry, I would suggest a George instead (the blue one). New Henrys have restricted power due to eco legislation, but Georges are exempt because they are designed...

    2.4 TDCi P0299 code

Hi, took it for a blast today on the motorway. While going full pelt up a gentle hill the power suddenly dropped off. It still drove but was very under powered until I switched it off and on again, then it was fine. It felt like limp mode except there was no MIL lit. Hawkeye shows code P0299. I...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Fitted a quick-release steering hub, noticed that the steering column is looser than it probably should be! When it reaches full lock the whole column (including cowls and switches etc) actually twists a bit. Pretty sure it's not meant to do that. A job for the weekend then!

    Ho hum!

John Craddock sent a wiper switch. And of course they're only answering the phone until 1pm.

    Ho hum!

No not yet, but whatever happens it would be good to have a spare. Was thinking of getting a Lucas one; very slightly more expensive but better reviews.

    Ho hum!

Are there any better quality after market ones out there? All the ones I can see look fairly cheap (for a LR part) so I'm not convinced they'll be top notch.

    Ho hum!

Currently stuck on Exmoor in a Defender with a broken headlight switch and no headlights. I’d say this never happened in my Freelander, but it actually has happened in my Freelander. I must have some powerful EM discharge from my fingers that breaks switches. It’s the only logical conclusion...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Took it for an MOT. It passed - after a few minor tweaks.
