Disco 2 Brakes Upgrade - Options

You will probably find that upgrading the brakes will make very little difference to your Disco's stopping performance unless you are regularly overheating the brakes. Stopping performance has far more to do with tyres than brakes. Under hard braking the standard system should be more than...

    What axle is this?

That looks to me like a standard 90 axle, usually called a Rover axle.

    Green lanes near me

Buy an OS map of your area and have a look. The 1:25000 Explorer ones are best but just double check they are up to date with the definitive map from your local council who can also update you about any closures.

    Freelander 1 Thermostat

I wouldn't be too worried about that. The TD4 engine does run cool, mine usually runs at around the quarter mark, getting up to around half in heavy traffic. I would be surprised if your thermostat is faulty. They usually fail in the closed position, which would lead to overheating.

HDC Fault / Christmas Tree Dashboard

look at the belt tensioner when the engine is running. There should be very little, if any movement of the tensioner arm or pulley, also listen for any squeaks. If there is visible deflection of the pulley, arm or belt or there is a squeak from the pulley, the tensioner should be replaced.

HDC Fault / Christmas Tree Dashboard

Yes, you should be able to check the belt without removing the fan itself, just the cover. There is a belt tensioner that can fail and cause the belt to slip.

HDC Fault / Christmas Tree Dashboard

If you are only getting 12v at 2000 rpm then it looks like there may be a problem with the alternator. Check lead to battery in case that has come lose just in case though. Also check the belt isn't slipping.

    Disco 2 Insa turbo tyres

Those tyres are about 2.5"-3" taller than standard so you won't have to lift it much if at all and I don't think the width will be much of an issue. Just check the clearance between the top of the tyre and wheel arch/suspension.

    Series 3 109" '84 Zenith 36IV carb labelled Solex

In 1965 the companies Zenith and Solex merged and in the UK became Solex UK who then owned the rights to all Zenith designs and the name, which eventually fell out of use and all Solex UK carburettors were branded Solex.

    19j into a 2.8l petrol project

This might fit. You could always flog the gearbox again. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-SD1-2600S-ENGINE-AND-AUTO-GEARBOX/312823191346?hash=item48d5b71732:g:DeQAAOSwAfVdvZvr

    19j into a 2.8l petrol project

You could try the 2.6 6 cylinder as fitted to the IIb and one-ton. Not much more power than the 2.5 but much more torque.

    19j into a 2.8l petrol project

I really wouldn't try boring out a 19j block. They were known for suffering from suffering from cracked blocks as it is. If you want more power and torque you could try a 2.8 iveco engine or the 2.5 mazda wl-t engine. Both of which produce about 120hp-125hp and about 230 ft/lb of torque

    19j into a 2.8l petrol project

The bore and stroke of the 19j is the same as the 300tdi at 90.47mm and 97mm. This is because the block is virtually identical.

    bleeding p/steering

It is usually self bleeding. Just turn the wheel from lock to lock with the engine running a few times and the air will be pushed out as the fluid circulates and will vent out of the little hole in the reservoir cap.
