    R380 / LT230 gearing advice

I've got a disco transfer box in my 200tdi 110, 235/85r16 tyres plus lots of sound proofing. Go for it.. Much more relaxed crusing, much quieter, and better mpg I get 32 overall.. I do occasionally tow, a 3/4 ton boat on trailer..no problem.. just change down a bit more often...

    Filling old drill holes

It would be quite feasible to aluminium solder to holes over, and the top surface sanded smooth.. it would be the most time consuming method but give the best finish..

    First wash in 18 months

My 110 has only been washed once in 20 years, it's coming up to needing it again as the litchen on the roof is growing a bit too much..

What's the most you paid for a land rover? ( or any car in fact!)

RAF Macrihanish was a USA nuclear store, and US navy seal Base, occasionally visited by the RAF or the SAS. RAF Stornoway was a signals Base (electronic countermeasures testing). Later a Tornado Standby base, there is was a RN refuelling depot there as well. RAF Benbecula was is a Radar station...

What's the most you paid for a land rover? ( or any car in fact!)

You'd have been better called a Benbeculian then, the radar was at almost zero feet ASL on the civilian airfield.. We had a landy 109 on the station, a Sherpa mini bus, which was the most used vehicle, and the F.LT. C.O. had a Cortina. The current radar is up a mountain on North Uist though...

    2.5na to 200/300 tdi

No I get 32mph average mpg, that's country and A roads, hitting 60 where I can, not dual carriageways and motorways pushing the flying brick at 70mph ( true mph by gps) Last time I ventured up the A1 I got it down to 27mpg. Being on a disco transfer box it's quite relaxed cruising at a constant...

My 110 rotted out it's tank on top at about 30 years old, but what the previous owners had done with it I don't know.

    2.5na to 200/300 tdi

That's exactly what my 200tdi disco box was running, / now is running as far as wheels are concerned, absolutely no problems on any road or towing.. Ps I added lots of sound proofing to body and bonnet, it's quite quiet..

    2.5na to 200/300 tdi

If you're going for a 200tdi or 300tdi then go for the disco transfer box at the same time, unless your are into serious off-road work. The TDI power plus disco transfer box, makes for much more relaxed open road travelling. My 1984 110 was converted with the parts from a 200tdi disco...

    Soldering iron or gun

For confined spaces, IE the landrover I use a butane iron and I've taken to using solder splices on the landy. One of the previous owners was definitely a wiring butcher. In the workshop is a solder station, and an antex 25W. At the model railway club we have a Weller, my old Weller died...

    Disco transfer box in defender

If you do it, it transforms higher speed driving, yes you may have to change down more often. But I've found its worth it.. And you save a lot of fuel unless you really hoof it.

    A Level Survey

My Land Rover normally has a selection of sailing equipment, PAT testing equipment, occasionally a model railway and sometimes things like a fencing mallet ( 9inch diameter iron bound wooden head), and a dydle.
