To be a MOT tester.. you've got to be a qualified mechanic (it's one of the requirements).. I'm sure if you said "hey what's wrong with my brakes you failed them on the MOT.." they'll tell you the issue so you can get it rectified..

or the bias or the pads or the fluid or the cylinder or the pedal etc.. just ask the MOT garage why it failed.. it's not hard?

Take it to a mechanic. If you don't know what the issue is based off the description. Then I would seek professional advice on the brakes. When they do a MOT they test all brakes (including handbrake) to see make sure they brake correctly.

they're such a pain to change and pull off also.. for the price of a new one it's definitely worth the head ache of trying to pull the old one off.. had a hydraulic puller on the last one i did.. refused to move so just pulled out the grinder and Dremel

was it a galv heater box also?

i just drill a hole in the roof and just use a ton of sealant

Heater box, this was the old one!

(also note that if it's a 1990 defender doesn't mean 1990 parts will fit, over the years people will change parts from discoveries etc into defenders so just keep that in mind for future parts on your vehicle)

not bad price, SP is pretty good, they're easy to fit, just undo all the pipes + steering rack, then there's 4 bolts from the chassis side you undo, depending which defender you have the drop down elbow.. just buy a new one they're a pain to pull off

those lower bushes are a nightmare.. and i've seen people cut them off and just put a new one ontop of the old one..

Grenadier over the "Defender" any day of the week.

So just got some new galv doors.. However.. if you have never put the locks together.. there's no good diagrams and you pretty much have to work it out for yourself.. so here's some images of how it goes together.. after watching videos and zooming in on the lock mechanism.. (this is drivers door)

Is there any major differences between the whole heater box unit in the 300tdi vs td5? other than the obvious heater matrix option is straight out vs 90 degree?

One thing to look out for is the big spider that made all those cobwebs
