    Steve's Land Raft

I went the whole hog and bought a Momo for my Disco. More room is essential, I think that looks fine!

    Steve's Land Raft

I can see you have the turbo now, I was just going to say that Andrew at Allisport is a mine of information (fairly obvious) and a dang nice & helpful bloke. You won’t go wrong with anything with their brand on (or associated with). It looks like you have a cracker of a 90 there, but show...

    Will a D2 auto selector fit a D1?

I think that is what Tonks meant?

    V8 Starting Issue

Yes, indeed! Turn that picture 90 degrees anticlockwise and the fan would be below them.

    V8 Starting Issue

New HT leads and new fuel filter fitted. Just waiting for the new distributor cap and rotor to arrive. I changed the plugs (lordy!) for new and all the screw on caps were loose, they are not now. It is firing better but not perfect yet. The old plugs were very dark but gaps were correct and...

    Will a D2 auto selector fit a D1?

And that steel plate won’t be too much of a drama!

    Thanks Tonks! I have a complete D2 setup…

Alternator failed - how to safely continue driving

Those two pictures of the gauge show it is charging. What is the alternator rated to? 60-80A is common I think, and that is at max revs. It probably pushes 40A or less normally (I don’t think it will fail and over-charge, just undercharge). I think an 80 mile drive will be fine, and will...

    Warm welcome, looks great!

I brought a very rough running v8 90 the other day

Nice! Sounds like a bargain then…

    V8 Starting Issue

Reviving this. I have a misfire at high revs now (didn’t a couple of weeks ago) after the alternator pulley pinged off. Car is a 3.9 EFi, now in a ex-TDi Discovery. Belt is now back on and the alternator (200A version) is raising the twin batts from 12.4V to 14.3V when running. The misfire...

    Radiator change, what else please?

Really Anaconda? A 20 year old original hose with 20 years wear / tear and temp cycling, will still be better than a new Britpart one? Are Britpart that bad?

    Radiator change, what else please?

I’m changing mine as it is probably the original (1995) and will be adding an Allisport version. Andrew there has been excellent with his assistance as my rad is a TDi still even though a v8 3.9 EFi has been dropped in. Thermosats are cheap and easy to fit if the rad is out, as is the water...

    Hello everyone

    Warm welcome!

No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

And this is where the fun starts. It was a TDi and has a diesel rad, but a 3.9 and auto box (guessing it was a v8 auto?) was slotted in.

    Are you this person?

No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

3.9 EFi on a sepentine belt, yes. Photo of the front of the engine Discool? I'm trying to get to the underneath to see the existing pump, however there is a long 'thin' one (ie stretched parallel to the ground if you will) and a more compacted, squarish one for V8s I think?
  18. Loafer61

    Which drive belt...?

And the belt goes like this? Clearly there is a bit of slack on the tensioner in my diagram!

No engine number on Discovery 1 V8

Reviving this old thread, but I have searched and obviously there are VIN databases. When a V8 is changed from one Rover to another, it is unlikely to be the same year (engine and chassis numbers), so is there a engine database? So I can check I’m getting the correct water pump (say) for my v8...

I realised I hadn’t added to this sub-forum, so hello from Kenya.

Morning everyone. Kenyan resident here, and acquired a Disco Mk1 for a thing called Rhino Charge, a charity event raising money to preserve water courses coming down the Mountain (Charity is called Rhino Ark). The car was #43 last year, however we’ll be competing under #61 this coming year...
