Have any of these (so-called) mechanics done any logging to see what changes when the car stops? Does the engine stop like the ignition is turned off (dash lights etc off too?) or more like it's stalled (dash lights on etc). Do the injectors stop but the ECU remains alive? Do other items turn...

Just FYI (to avoid confusion); that IS cranking, but not starting. It appears to have no compression, so I suspect that "metallic noise" was probably valves crashing into pistons - maybe the timing chain broke?

Is it eating it's own oil through the breather system? Does it have heaps of blowby from being worn out? - if it's runs away, it can destroy itself! If it's running on it's own oil, none of the speed control mechanisms apply and it will just rev to whatever it can get too, which may be well...

Well. I have contacts... I was a Wurth rep, pushing 20 years ago (I'm getting old!) and my brother in law still is one here in NZ... so I can get "special" pricing. But it does go a long way! It works well on plenty of stuff. Even shoes - it lasted a few years on :D

Is the Fuel pressure regulator poked and leaking fuel from the rail, into the vacuum hose; effectlively choking the engine? There should be ZERO fuel in the vacuum hose (from the reg, to the back of the manifold).
