What pipe, do you mean intercooler to turbo? If it is oily what do you do to correct it please?

Was out off roading today. Hasn't rained here for a while so not a huge amount of mud. However, I noticed that when I took my foot off the gas ie decelerating and when pointing downhill (possibly coincidence) there was a pile of smoke coming out the back. What does this mean please?

My 200tdi doesn't have a shroud. No issues whatsoever.

Thanks mate. I saw screwfix are selling one for £7.99 but wasn't sure whether it was suitable for 12 v circuits. From what you're saying will probably be suitable for basic testing that I need it for.
