4.2 SC LOTS of white smoke...

Sure, I'm not going to have a chance for another look before the weekend though, and fretting in the meantime, hence all the questions. Thanks all for the responses!

How would I check the ccv? Would I definitely get a misfire code with a faulty injector, so can I definitely rule that out? It is possible the lean codes and smoke are unrelated - the codes came up before the smoking and it doesn't seem to smoke on LPG.

Pretty sure no, after approx 10 miles of driving.

It did seem to rev OK, but to be honest the engine is quiet anyway so it could well have had a missfire without me noticing. It switched to lpg after half a mile and then all seemed ok. Is it possible to disable each injector in turn to see if that stops the smoke?

No warranty! I think pulling the plugs and looking for fuel jetting might be beyond my technical prowess - what would I be looking for exactly? If I assume it's a stuck injector, would the engine be safe to run with some injector cleaner just to see if it clears? Got some Forte stuff arriving...

Correct, two bolts, but also the two to take the cabin air filer out to access the bolt at the back. I only took it off to have a nose round to see if there was an obvious air leak. The CCV idea would seem to be a possible cause for all the symptoms - but on petrol only and not LPG? I want to...

The codes came up without me touching the engine. The smoke started after I'd taken the cover off, had a look round and forgotten to put the oil cap on. I put the oil cap back on and it was still smoking - though I turned the engine off straight away. Perhaps it needs to be run a bit for...

I hope you're right. Would that cause all the white smoke? And on petrol only?

Codes were P0171 and P0174 which came up before the smoke started. I cleared them and they have returned since as pending codes only. If you really floor it when the LPG is on it will cut back to petrol, so I'm guessing the LPG cant keep up, hence running lean? The smoke does seem smokey and...

Aaaghhh! Don't say that! It's got flashlube if that makes any difference? Agree re diagnostics.

No! Would that cause so much smoke?

Hello all, new to the forum and new to Range Rovers. We bought an 05 4.2 SC with LPG last week - what an awesome machine, well, that is to say it was an awesome machine. Sequence of events as follows: - check engine light came up: lean on both banks, figured it was because of the LPG, cleared...
