    Stuck thermostat inline mod

@pwood999 I bought one of those alloy jobs. All good but it weeped at the threads and then, having been hot would not unscrew to allow me to seal it. Just a heads up!! Seal thread before use would be my advice !!

    Freelander 1 Preserving the scarce ! FL1

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/167258794531?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=6oUpXRg6QSW&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=b5qQSb6hQNK&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Looks worth saving and low mileage. Header tank suggests a problem with possible coolant contamination. Owner looking for £750 offer...

    Freelander 1 Wanted Servo (sjg000010)

How many do you want ! 🤔 Looks like all Freelander 1's have same part number. Have one from a 2003 TD4 in working order. Will PM you.

    Stuck thermostat inline mod

I put a pilot 2mm hole in one and what happened was that the temperature was lower due to bypass. Also, when the engine cooled, on down hill runs etc then the temperature dropped. I filled the hole and all good. Not sure if mine shows a flow to header, I will check when next out in it.

Freelander 1 Rear Camber needs attention

Surely the wheel angle (camber) will also be affected by weight distribution in the vehicle. Maybe all design figures were for tank of fuel etc. That has all somewhat changed in your vehicle !! 😀

Freelander 1 Prop stuck in VC Joint

You need to adjust the VCU to UJ bolt to allow it to contact the chisel, but and this is important, the chisel must contact both sides of the UJ or you can bust the UJ casting. I.e. push it right through.

    Diagnostic tool for Freelander 1

Icarsoft has one advantage. Small and keep in glove box for roadside failures. However, it only reads the engine ECU despite calls and emails to icarsoft. Tech support is rubbish. Mine shows my gearbox input shaft rotating at 16,500 RPM !! Car on idle. PScan is the one to have to do all ECUs...

    Diagnostic tool for Freelander 1

Must admit, I like the seperate ECUs and minor interconnectivity on the FL1. Makes fault finding easier and means a fault in one doesn't necessarily stop you using the vehicle. There is an ECU in the fuel burning heater but not sure what data it would give or whether it is canbus or not. Am...

Freelander 1 Heated screen failed on one side (Solved)

More for interest really. My 2003 TD4 Sport had only half a screen demist working. Didn't worry too much but thought I'd check it when I had time. Took scuttle plastic off today to repair an intermittent park contact on the wipers. But importantly I noticed the front screen wire had been cut...

Freelander 1 TD4 Injector Washers - to anneal or not to anneal?

The theory is that it softens the copper and reportedly makes them more able to fit to any irregularity in a used injector mounting hole and seat. I know that some washers are harder than others, I have ordered a good make Bosch, but just wondered what folks do. Many thanks

Freelander 1 TD4 Injector Washers - to anneal or not to anneal?

That is the question ! What is the current thinking and what process if yes. Cherry red and cool slowly in air? Many thanks

What have you done to your Freelander today

It does look like post March 2006 TD4 automatics take the hit. Manuals appear to be 205 g/km and autos 240 g/km. So a post March 2006 Auto TD4 would be expensive to tax. I have looked up a few vehicles for sale, looked the reg number up for emissions and the above holds true for the ones I checked.

What have you done to your Freelander today

The one I sold cheap was a 56 auto. Tax disc was cat L.

What have you done to your Freelander today

So mine is a K and if post March 2006 it would be an L. Yours is a K also due to the lower emissions rating. Hope that helps clear this up for everyone. So if anyone is paying L they presumably can challenge it ?!?!?
