Happy Christmas all,
My recent Christmas present from the Defender is a leaking adjustment bolt which sits on the top cover (Gemmer 6 bolt) and around the steering adjustment screw. Any ideas were i can get a new nut rather than the whole service kit for £20?
Thanks in advance
Tottot thank you for the reply, I’ll leave well alone, it’s only getting slightly damp every so often. I knew the oil migration happened on the rear but not the front.
Many thanks
Rich
Thanks for the reply. As you say, I’m not to bothered about the mix of oils and grease, so may leave it until I can be bothered to take of the housing and replace.
Morning all,
I think i know the answer but recently changed the axle oil (Def 90, G Reg) and when checking the other day its was nearly black again. I do have a slightly weeping front right swivel seal (swivels have 1 shot grease in) so i'm thinking the axle oil is getting into the swivel...
Agreed - nowt that can really go wrong. If you’ve got air, fuel and a spark it’ll fire unless the timing is woefully out (180 degrees). If the timings correct it will still run (might be a bit ****e). Backfires normally mean timing massively out.
So had a look, leaky sunroofs, Rev counter sometimes works, 2 x warning lights and some corrosion (see MOT Checker). Tidy overall for a 2004 but would prefer an Auto box.
Still on Gum Tree (Tidworth) if interested
Rich
