It's a series 3 one as per the first picture, ordered from DLS part number 591231 which ties in with the parts catalog. I did wonder about it though as the old one I removed was aluminium, the new one is steel!?

She's a 3.9 Serpentine V8. :D I'll get a new master cylinder first as it's on it's way out, then if that doesn't fix it I'll try the spacers on the slave. Remember the slave is new as well so could be different to my old one.

I'm not sure I'd still have my S3 if it didn't have a V8 in it, love it for the noise, power, smooth driving, and believe it or not the fuel economy (LPG). Each to their own I guess, but just to support the pro V8 campaign :-)

Sorry for the late reply to your question, I've been running it about 6 months now, so far all good. It runs much better through the rev range than the previous mixer plates that I had, which seemed to give rough idle, and lean at higher throttle.

I replaced my 3rd/4th sychro springs through the top, just took the selector cover off and removed the selectors. Gearbox stayed connected in the car. It can be done, it saved hours of effort.

I replaced the fuse box in mine with a 4 slot blade type, still fitted in the hole under the steering column but much more reliable, plus fuses are easier to get in this format. As for the Kenlow, I threw out my temp controlled switch as it was a joke and put a manual switch in it's place...
