Free Wheeling hubs for a freelander

Oh i detect a lot of sarcasm here! Tell your friend or your brothers girlfriends uncles sisters daughter that the final drive on all freelanders upto FL2 are NOT the same. Prior to the TD4 in late 2000 the final drive had a different ratio. This was understood to be the cause of transmission...

Freelander ABS TC hill decent lights on

do you have hill decent control? (Yellow switch on gear stick?) If you do and you think ABS still working then try engaging first with hill decent engaged - you should have a steady green light. Drive off and get some speed up in first - take foot off gas - ABS kicks in to slow you down. If...

    Kwik-Fit F**K up...

you can get reinforced side walls - more common on vans - for all that rough treatment climbing kerbs outside schools. I've got 'road' tyres on my td4 on the rear (always new tyres to rear!!!) and goodyear wranglers on front - the goodyears are much noisier than road biased tyres

    Kwik-Fit F**K up...

Nothing wrong with Goodyear NCT5 tyres. Ok if you intend to go off road then not the ideal choice but they are an excellent road tyre. You'll prob be quoted for M + S tyres (mud and snow) - such as goodyear wrangler. Ask yourself how much time you spend off road in mud or driving in snow.....

Sound of escaping air from back of engine

Ha learned hardly! Had the same on mine (2001 TD4) so only too happy to help. Mine was leaking on the small pipe right hand side - manifested itself when towing last summer. And thats a trailer not a caravan or horsebox or mobile platform for hairdresser convention Although...wouldn't mind...

    Blue or Red Antifreeze??

oh and colour generally irrelevant - mines green. and its OAT

    Blue or Red Antifreeze??

I agree - just don't mix both types or they gel up and block waterways - then its a flush out to solve the resulting overheating problem.

    TD4 Turbo lag

MAF - Mass Airflow Sensor. located in air intake. I think its supposed to measure incoming air temp and tell management system how to mix fuel air ratio. It goes out of spec causing hesitation and your symptoms. Unplug it and have a drive. If things improve you've found the fault...

Sound of escaping air from back of engine

Hi and welcome The sound of leaking air is just that - you won't see anything when stood with the engine running because you'll only be able to detect it when the engine is under load and the turbo / intercooler system are working. There is a rubber outlet hose attached to the turbo and two...

    Broke a pipe

I've had a look on microcat and you're right the small plastic junction is not available as parts. The entire unit is the fuel spill rail and part number is MSP101340L. I'm sure you can get the part you need from a scrappy - but if not try a truck diesel specialist or dare I say it, local BMW...

    Whats the prob..

but wouldn't that be a small price to pay for such a quality warranty?? and why would you want to go off road cos as us hippo owners are told - it'll get wet and the doors will fall off. hmm another air con fix - no doors!!!

    Whats the prob..

take it back in!!! if your original dealer is still open and you can prove it was bought from them i'm sure they'll oblige by immediatly swapping for a nice new freelander2 which you can then have the pleasure of frequent trips back to see them! or just buy one with a k series engine......

    Whats the prob..

Ohh Optimus! Go!!! This time i agree with you - how can you expect any car to be fault free this far in? Maybe we should petition LR and Downing St cos LR dealers won't give new tyres for free cos the original spec ones are wearing too quickly- or maybe cos it's been chav'd up...... air con...

    Turbo pipe.

Hi! Welcome to the world of Landrover. I would agree to check the intercooler hoses first as these are by far the easier. Remove the top engine cover (if yours has one) cos on my 2001 td4 the pipe is partially covered by this - it wears underneath where it passes close to the engine. I...

    Starting Problem

Well it was only a thought on what the problem may have been...... If its been ok since i'm sure there is nothing to worry about :)

    Starting Problem

Strange problem. How steep was the hill and how much fuel in your tank?? It is possible that if not that much fuel in then your in tank pump would not pull the fuel through - no fuel pressure no fire!

Who's the oldest hippo of them all?

Hi Mines a TD4, Bonatti grey again! 2001 vintage (x reg cheaper tax!) very happy with it. sure it has little problems here and there 67500 miles to date but i wouldn't change it. well only for a new one!

    oh no 3 amigoes!

could well have been crap in the gap (!!) checked them all again today, disconnected battery, removed multiplug from abs controller, wd40, replace. checked hdc switch, reconnected battery lights still on. reversed off drive, drove off and then lights went out! landrovers - unpredictable...

    oh no 3 amigoes!

heres one for you all to ponder. had this fault display before and traced to osr wheel sensor so changed and all been well. today decided it needed a good steam clean. put her up ramp and steamed underside. no problems revering off ramp no lights on. left engine running and steamed off...
