    Identify these parts…..

Thanks, yes I only flushed it one way but I’ll do it both ways tomorrow. I’ll also check the operation of opening & closing the valve with the pipe removed as you’ve suggested to see if that’s working properly - out of interest what kind of flow rate should be coming through compared to say a...

    Identify these parts…..

Hi all, I have finally had some time to do a few jobs on my 88. I’ve given the heating system a bit of a service; stripping down the levers and sleeved cables, freed up the lower cabin flaps (it’s got a replacement series 3 bulkhead and dashboard), replaced the hoses to the defrost vents on top...

    Series 2a washer system

Thanks, I’ve opened up the binnacle and as you’ve said there’s no cable there in the screw terminal. I have put a meter on the terminals of the knob/push switch and it completes the circuit when depressed so that’s good news. I can’t see any loose cable there which is a little odd (it may have...

Hello from a new Series 2a owner

Strange as I joined on here to meet fellow enthusiasts and learn a bit more about the cars, yet somehow I already feel like I’m not welcome by some. The car was registered in Feb 1970, over 18months before S3’s were released. It’s obviously had a lot of work done to it to keep it on the road...

Hello from a new Series 2a owner

According to the DVLA registered dates chassis number and talking to Land Rover it’s a 2a!

    Dashboard illumination Series 2a/3

Yes the dash/binnacle - always been of the opinion it’s the same thing because back in the day dash meant drivers’ instrument cluster. I think it was the Americans who started off confusing things by saying the dash is the bit that goes across the front of the car!

Hello from a new Series 2a owner

Hello from a new Series 2a owner

Not sure if you mean the RRS or the Volvo - but both are awesome bits of kit in their own right!

    Dashboard illumination Series 2a/3

Thanks folks, yes tried multiple options with different switches on/off etc but no success. Will start labelling cables and remove the dash at some point this week. It sounds like there bulb phasers are a weak spot- any aftermarket alternatives available?

    Dashboard illumination Series 2a/3

Thanks - guessed that was the case. I’m really after advice on how to get the binnacle out and the location of the lights/cables for it. I know Haynes do a couple of books but would be good to know which is best.

    Dashboard illumination Series 2a/3

I don’t appear to have any illumination on my dashboard. I only got the car yesterday so don’t know when it stopped working! There’s a switch on the dash that I think is to turn it on/off but it doesn’t do anything. I’ve tested it across the rear terminals in the off and on positions and I’m...

    Series 2a washer system

Yesterday I became the new owner of a Series 2a. I already have a few things that I need to sort but hey that’s part of the fun isn’t it? The wipers work fine, the washer jet doesn’t (assuming I’m doing the right thing by pushing in the knob). I’ve tested the pump which works fine. The earthed...

Hello from a new Series 2a owner

Hi all, I’ve just become the proud owner of a 1970 Series 2a. She’s in reasonable condition but I’ve already discovered a few things that need further investigation……. I have a feeling I will be on here seeking help quite a bit! Dave
