    Steering / suspension ideas

Not sure what’s on there but the ride is a little hard and bouncy. I’ll have a good look to see any markings. It’s not the first time OME has been mentioned. Also Bilsteins seem to get decent reviews, less so Terrafirma, but like I say, I won’t be carrying heavy loads or towing anything hefty. I...

    Steering / suspension ideas

Hello all, suspension has been covered from many angles before, but I can’t find the info I need. I’m looking for bushes, suspension and shocks recommendations to soften the ride for general use. No real off-road use required and no heavy towing, so it’s about comfort when lightly loaded. Most...

Agreed 👍 easy enough fix, even for me! 😊

    Engine whine

I think I will. I am also changing the tensioner for good measure and planned preventative maintenance I think it’s called. I was worried it would have been one of the pressed in bearings, so to be honest I’m ok with changing a few pulleys and the belt. Cheers.

    Engine whine

Ok, update time. Between heavy (ish) showers today I took the plunge. Went in with the massive viscous fan spanners. Absolutely worth the money, very simple. Having removed the fan, the noise was still there, so a tick for the fan being ok. Removed the belt (much easier than replacing it on your...

    Engine whine

Yes, thanks, most videos show using a socket. I’ve got spanners and the two more simple pulleys coming. If it works, I’ll post an update from a novices perspective with part codes / costs etc. wish me luck !!

    Engine whine

Update - I’ve just found a you tube video with the very sound my engine is making. For anyone interested, it’s a you tube video by Dagson67 (in an EU language) titled Land Rover Defender idler pulley noise.

    Engine whine

Just thinking about labour costs at garages / specialists - is it worth buying those fan spanners and check that first by running the engine, then if that doesn’t cure it, remove the belt and replace all the pulleys and new belt as routine maintenance, refit the belt and test again. If the noise...

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

Nice one, would never have thought of that. I had a very Quick Look today and despite being a hard top with few comforts (currently), there were 3 yellow relays there already. Cheers Phill.

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

are there timed (e.g 10 mins) 40 amp relays readily available for this job - i'll have a look online, but any links / codes greatly received!

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

Many thanks lynall :) 👍 The OEM switches are 10 amp each rated and i think some run without relays at all.

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

I'm sure I'll be corrected ;) but RX7/8 forums suggest 10amp fuse for each seat (heating elements only), so 30 amp relay? Motor parts (driver only seems to suggest separate 20 amp fuse, with / without relay)? Any advice / guidance greatly received :)

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

Hi there, yeah I think the Mud ones are only rated 3 amps when i looked online. Like I said, i'd have to research it but had assumed i would need a relay (as opposed to just working from the switches). What I can tell you is that the electric adjustment side of things had a blown the 10a fuse...

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

looks like the genuine ones (which i have coming) are 10 amps? I wouldnt want to risk it as the seats are Mazda RX8 and i know very little about the current draw. The drivers seat is also electrically adjustable. I can research it, but assumed a relay was a safer option.

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

Cheers. Obviously I can take a look, but is there plenty of space for relays - i have a heated front screen going in, heated seats and potentially others (i'm doing heated mirrors too but i think they can run from the switch as they are low power).

OEM switches with Rimmer seat heating kit

Update folks. Not sure if I need yet another post! My 90 has Mazda RX8 leather bucket seats (very comfortable by the way), the drivers side has electrics. Some research suggests that all leather versions of these are also heated - that would be a huge Brucie bonus, so I won’t count on it yet...

Any alloy wheel identifying specialists out there please?

Yeah, I saw the wheel nuts for the predators aren’t standard. I don’t think I’ll find another predator wheel, so I’ll want something that looks similar (not a big fan of spare wheel covers in the back of the truck) or bite the bullet and buy 5 new alloys! 💰💰💰🥹😓
