I'm sick of this gloom too, looking forward to getting in to the dust and bright blue skies, I was talking to a chap in Germany last week about tires that perform really well in sand, he recommends the ones in the link as has used them in Morocco and Tunis a couple of times, I run a similar tire...

Would you exchange your D2 for a 110?

    A 2003 300 tdi??

Would you exchange your D2 for a 110?

    Don't think you would get a 2003 Td5 110 CSW for £5-6k, £5-6k will get you a early tatty Td5 90 van or a clean (ish) 300 tdi 90.

The defender is worth more money, swap, fix whatever is wrong with the defender (there usually is something that needs doing) sell it and go buy a Land Cruiser. Simples.

Opel seats, No Range Rover seats ever came with hoop head rests, plus I recognise them as either Carlton / Cavalier / Frontera Opel / Vauxhall seats, interesting dash board heater controls too.

What does the drain plug look like when you take it off? Covered in spikey swarf? Just a thought, I have a 1.4 transfer box that I took off my 2005 110, nothing wrong with it, no noises, but I swapped it for a new 1.2, I could bring it down with me to Morocco and you could get someone to fit it...

This vibration Mike, is it when you drive in a straight line or when going around corners? Have you checked / changed your panhard bushes? Usually the Landy will wander about, but you've probably already looked at them Whine from the rear is usually the bearings hopefully, there is a chap on...

Cost of getting a new chassis galved?

Hmm, I do see quite a lot of standard ones galvanised now, eBay usually has a few for sale. Probably easier to buy a new galv chassis than mess about with a old one.

Father in law has an Thwaites dumper, must be from the early 80's, no brakes, tractor tires nearly bald, no seat as such, no slipping of the clutch, it's either engaged or not and is quite good on crossing the stream and going up slopes though. I don't think it's ever been in his barn, just sits...

http://www.rallysolidario.com/rally-solidario-ruta.html?ref=anariel7 Ignoring all the charitable stuff, the route they are doing is rather similar to what we did last Easter, except they don't go as far south, the bit I liked was they have an alleged Dakar mechanic that will go through your...

    quick re-bushing question

Definitely equal, my OCD would NEVER let me install a bush that was not so, easier with a press though, by hand and a vice takes too long. Like said above a smear of grease or copper slip makes life a little easier even with a press.
