    Straight 6 rebuild

Looks like I spoke too soon, I noticed a whiff of petrol round the back end the other day, looked underneath and the paint on the fuel tank has started bubbling along one seam. Bother. It's only a tiny amount of fuel that's seeping out so I've ordered some fuel tank repair putty for a fiver...

    Straight 6 rebuild

Aye, she's doing well, can't complain at all! The gearbox rebuild is now on hold as the missus wanted a log burner put in the house so there goes my gearbox fund! Got myself a ratty old canvas and sharks tooth rail on it at the minute, the truck cab and nice 3/4 tilt will go back on when the...

    Need a bit of advice...

Bit of filler and it'll be fine..... :p On a more serious note, it looks like the inner skin has gone too, look just behind the bolt through the door hinge. I did a load of repair work on my bulkhead recently (Series 3 not defender but it'll give you an idea of what's involved) including one of...

    Series 1 wots this for

I'm not sure it'd be much use reconnecting it, from memory the old four pin military sockets will not wire up the trailer indicators, I think the pins are for rear lights, brake lights, convoy lights and earth but don't quote me on that.

    300 tdi on to a 6cyl gearbox lwb 109

Shame that another 6 cylinder is coming off of the road, what are you planning on doing with the engine?

Help me please with some part numbers or names

Near side mudshield, off side mudshield (if this has gone you'll probably also want the steering box cover), headlight bezel/surround. I haven't bothered with any of the fixings, just nuts, bolts, washers etc. When you fit your mudshields space the bottom edge where it attaches to the footwell...

    Series 3 Synchro hub springs

I had heard that in the past, the boxes need to come out really, the synchromesh is getting tired and third gear whines so it's time for them to have some TLC.

    Series 3 Synchro hub springs

That's good to know, much better than losing the gears all together. I'm expecting the refurb process to be full of head scratching moments and 'learning opportunities'!

    Series 3 Synchro hub springs

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to gearboxes so forgive me if this is a stupid question. In the next couple of months I plan on taking the gearbox out of my 109 to give it a refurb, the first time I changed the oil in there a synchro hub spring came out, the last time I changed the oil another...

    bulkhead replacement

Getting there slowly! ;) Where did the extended screen demisters come from? Are they 90/110/defender bits?

    Soft top brackets/gutters - DIY?

I went with the extensive repair option recently on mine rather than a re-chassis: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/straight-6-rebuild.266514/page-6

    Soft top brackets/gutters - DIY?

Looks like a top job, very impressed with that! Did you take measurements from an old chassis for a template? I have to say for the cost vs effort I think I would have bought a new one!

    Soft top brackets/gutters - DIY?

I may be being dense but I can't see anything on your profile about a chassis build? Perhaps my user settings are wrong. I'm very impressed though!

    Soft top brackets/gutters - DIY?

Ah, I see, sorry, I misread your previous post. It looks good enough to be factory produced. Gives me something to aim for, thank you once again.

Thank you very much for uploading those, I presume the actual gutters were bought?

    Soft top brackets/gutters - DIY?

Chris, that's good to know, thank you. I don't suppose you have any pictures of what you made do you? I was thinking of using 1.2 as I have a 2X1 metre sheet of it at the workshop but not much 2mm left over from dealing with my chassis. I'll have a look and a think about it next time I'm there...
