Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

Think they'd need cutting off the chassis and welding where the 4 cylinder mounts are rather than anything being redrilled. I have no idea if doing this would give you clearance for a 300TDi though, I've never done it before! The measurements for the 4 cylinder chassis are all in the green bible...

Stood for 20 yrs - 109 series 3 resto thread.

The gearbox mounts are a couple of extra inches rearwards on a 6 cylinder compared to a 4 cylinder, and the engine mounts are a few inches forwards too. Numbers are scribbled in my green bible but I don't have it to hand at present. I don't know of any other differences in the chassis other than...

Where to mount electric fuel pump?

The electric fuel pump on my straight 6 is mounted on the rear wards face of the crossmember behind the gearbox. You can hear it ticking from the cab without the engine on but with the engine on its drowned out.

    Series 3 300TDi into 6 cylinder

Yup, I've taken mine with no OD up to 63mph on the motorway once (only once) but it's happiest cruising A roads at 50mph (read that as me having some mechanical sympathy for the box and engine!).

Based on this and your previous thread, I'd find a different 'mechanic'.

    Series 3 300TDi into 6 cylinder

What's the reason for wanting a 4 cylinder over a 6 cylinder? 6 cylinder has more torque, more horsepower, sounds beautiful, mine averages 17 mpg which isn't that far off of a 4 cylinder petrol (infact I have a friend with a 4 cylinder petrol who gets less than that), I will admit that if your...

    Where is 2625cc engine number?

None of the books I have give a location, a quick Google search says it should be on the block at the front left of the engine. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow to see if I can confirm this (I may need to clean some of the filth off of it to find it...).

Series 3 2.6 six pot rebuild!

I'm a 6 pot owner as well (check out my rebuild thread to see what mine needed doing) so it's nice to see another getting attention. And yes I do recognise the vehicle, I was surprised it took so long to sell. Get more pictures up, better quality ones too if possible, we all like seeing photos...

What's going on with the front dumb irons? Is that a home made lift kit or do they somehow dislocate to give more articulation?
