Evening , I usually get great success with fault finding with the help of you guys so I’m hoping this is no different. the central locking has stopped working on our Freelander but at the same time so has rear window. It has gone down and won’t come up? I’ve checked fuzes and all seam ok.

Hi I thought I’d check back in, the noise has stopped now, it appears snake oil does work. I do have black smoke when booting it but there’s a split in boost pipe so I’m hoping once the boost pipe is replaced the smoke will disappear.

I will have a good listen tomorrow, just been out with it and it’s thick black smoke coming out the back. Timed well with the noise. Pretty good chance this is injectors due to smoke maybe?

I thought injectors due to smoke, it’s doesn’t sound like engine noise to be honest but can injectors really make a noise like that?

Ok but at low revs up to 3k there’s no noise, and none at 4K. Also noise sounds higher up than crank. every time it makes the noise you get a puff of smoke? Black smoke

Afternoon guys, I’ve just picked up a td4 with 133k on the clock. It’s got this really horrible noise when it’s revved. Sounds like something is about to break it’s not a knock it’s kind of a squeak / metallic / snagging noise . It’s not coming from belt area and it doesn’t sound like chain...

Hi guys I’ve got a Freelander 1 td4 auto I’ve just purchased but there was no prop on it (obviously developed a fault) and they done away with. I’ve found a low mileage complete unit but it’s from a manual. So the question is will it fit? matt

2 new front bearings ordered, will swap them over and go from there. took it out for a good 20 mike yesterday with no faults coming up at all. All very strange. after the front hearing I’ll go for an allignment and see what’s what with her.

I used a fox well scanner, I know the front wheel bearings are on there way (Didn’t think it was that urgent or would cause this) and I know the left rear wheel camber is off I guess it all could be contributing factors

No movement on access hight at all, had the whole car rocking with no movement on wheel. I guess this doesn’t rule out arms completely though. Could just be the wrong camber ?

I’ve just remembered something, I can hear a noise when adjusting the ride height. Kind of a knock/click/snag of some sort going from normal to access the other morning.

It’s in the book as timing belt being done but I never trust a stamp in a book so will be ensuring it’s done. I usually do my own work yes but these are built so different to your run of the mill car I came on here. so if I was to change the lot, what is there to change to give it a new back...
