    Air rifle

I found it difficult to get it working with anything but a steel target. It just didn't hear it when I fired at paper, wood or plastic :)

    Air rifle

There's a good Android app that can chrono an air gun. You basically make very careful measurements and it listens for the muzzle crack and then the impact of the pellet and calculates the velocity and then the muzzle velocity and power based on the ballistic properties of the pellet (the pellet...

    Air rifle

of course yes, but you should be firing a good few tins of pellets at targets before you start shooting live quarry, and flat-heads are good for things like rats and sqizzers!

    Air rifle

it depends really. domes are probably better for bunnies, as the points could easily over-penetrate, not transferring all of the energy in to the target. I'd got with points for pigeons :) points aren't good for shooting paper, as you can't see the holes well, although air arms hunter are ok...

    Air rifle

that's true. a pellet dropping to only 3fpe of energy though is losing height really quickly, so if you don't judge the distance extremely accurately, then you end up with a miss, or a wounded bunny, which is not nice..

60 yards kills are easily possible with a sub 12fpe gun, but unless you're supremely confident, and it's a completely still day, then 35 yards is probably the general limit for hunting. prometheus pellets are alright, but you're better off with lead :) I've got a tx200 right now. just...

    Air rifle

Evening. I would recommend joining airgunbbs.com and the "air rifles/pistols gloucestershire/worcestershire/herefordshire" facebook group. I'm in to air rifles myself, but none of mine would suit you, or are for sale at the moment :) (forest of dean here btw).

    estmated life of clutch

I don't get your point. I'm commenting on the aforementioned clunk. It's not likely to be related to the pedal travel. I've done 60000 miles on a clutch that bites at the top.

    estmated life of clutch

The clunking could be a combination of all the slack in your drive train being taken up. Worn splines on shafts, intermediate bearing, drive flanges etc.

    estmated life of clutch

That would be the thrust bearing. I think it's possible for a clutch to outlast a vehicle when used carefully.

    Jap import County Disco 1

I take it that it's an auto box? Check the gearbox oil. If it's gold then it's not likely to have been flushed since being imported otherwise it's going to be cherry coloured. I've got one and it's good, but like all discos it has its problems.

    Jap import County Disco 1

The rust countdown timer will have only begun when it was imported :) most important thing!

    Worth It ?

basically, you will need to replace bits without a doubt, however, parts are so cheap for the disco, so if you can do the work yourself, you're doing well :)

300 tdi losing power between 2800 and 3000

wd40 will be my tool of choice :) Basically, feel around between the turbo and the engine block. There's an actuator towards the back of the engine bay, with a rod that should push the wastegate open when the turbo boost gets high enough. The rod pushes open the valve which is towards the...

300 tdi losing power between 2800 and 3000

Turbo wastegate seized closed. When the edc ecu detects turbo overboost it cuts fuel for a short time. Mine does the same mainly with foot to the floor up hills. The wastegate is a pita to get to so waiting until I can take the inlet manifold off to try and wiggle it free. Hopefully don't have...
