The old oil-cooled welders will be going for at least £80 for a completely knackered one. You'd have to be seriously lucky to get one for £40, or even luckier like me, whose next door neighbour gave me an oxford bantam 180 in return for fitting the tow-bar to his discovery :) The buzz-box...

I've got a tx200hc too, and it's the best springer I've ever owned, and I also like it more than the PCP's. there's more of an art to a springer, and the tx is the best there is :)

There was a TIG chap trying to weld the stuff on a 110 tub in "A 4x4 Is Born", and he had real problems - reckoned it was contaminated.

I've been reading a book by David gingery tonight on how to cast aluminum parts cheaply and then make a lathe. Apparently loads of people have made the 'gingery' lathes. Might seriously consider doing a bit of my own foundry work :)

Took me a little while to figure out where you were :) it's quite a trip from glevumshire! Would you be able to post? Have you got one similar in size to mine and that could be bolted to my 4" faceplate? Although I guess I could always sort an intermediate faceplate out if necessary :)

you're following my sort of thinking Dr_evil. I think I'm going to make a better bed for it too. You can't tell from the photo, but the bed has been 'smoothed' with an angle grinder hahaha. I've got a couple of nice heavy lengths of angle steel which could do a better job!

Cheers for the thought, but it's more money than I've got in the bank, and it's only the 3rd of the month LOL! Hence why I'm trying to do things on the cheap and nasty ;) Need to get selling some more stuff on fleabay I think! That Drummond is just a few miles from me jamesmartin :)

BTW. I'm not feeling flush, or I wouldn't be messing around with this lump of carp ;) At least with this, I can try and build something up incrementally! I'll get something better when finances allow :)
