    Welder

As I said, you have to be lucky. When you see welders like that on ebay, they go for market value, which is going to be more than £40 (and here's where you tell me that it was on ebay LOL)

    Welder

I've welded with an Aldi welder, and it was OK. The duty cycle on thick rods was a a bit crap, and that's where they fall over as they get hot, but the electrics are so simple that you should be able to do some decent welding with one, no matter how cheap it is. Cheap rods are another matter -...

    Welder

The old oil-cooled welders will be going for at least £80 for a completely knackered one. You'd have to be seriously lucky to get one for £40, or even luckier like me, whose next door neighbour gave me an oxford bantam 180 in return for fitting the tow-bar to his discovery :) The buzz-box...

Air Arms TX200HC, custom walnut stock, scope and hard case

I've got a tx200hc too, and it's the best springer I've ever owned, and I also like it more than the PCP's. there's more of an art to a springer, and the tx is the best there is :)

    Welding Brimabrite

There was a TIG chap trying to weld the stuff on a 110 tub in "A 4x4 Is Born", and he had real problems - reckoned it was contaminated.

AirgunBBS.com is also an excellent group. You need 5 posts to see the sales section.

    air gun charging tackle

.. and there are air bottles for sale on an almost daily basis on these groups. I was always happy with a stirrup pump personally - I had a Hills one, which made light work of it, but then I'm a 6'2" fat git, so I can put my back in to it ;)

    air gun charging tackle

I'm a member of a few air rifle facebook groups. one of the really popular groups is the "air guns/rifles for sale UK" one, but the group owner is a neo-nazi psychopath so I left the group (i am all for hunting, just not shooting at foxes with air rifles and then posing the dead foxes in...

    Bits for home-made lathe

I've been reading a book by David gingery tonight on how to cast aluminum parts cheaply and then make a lathe. Apparently loads of people have made the 'gingery' lathes. Might seriously consider doing a bit of my own foundry work :)

    Bits for home-made lathe

Took me a little while to figure out where you were :) it's quite a trip from glevumshire! Would you be able to post? Have you got one similar in size to mine and that could be bolted to my 4" faceplate? Although I guess I could always sort an intermediate faceplate out if necessary :)

    Bits for home-made lathe

you're following my sort of thinking Dr_evil. I think I'm going to make a better bed for it too. You can't tell from the photo, but the bed has been 'smoothed' with an angle grinder hahaha. I've got a couple of nice heavy lengths of angle steel which could do a better job!

    Bits for home-made lathe

Cheers for the thought, but it's more money than I've got in the bank, and it's only the 3rd of the month LOL! Hence why I'm trying to do things on the cheap and nasty ;) Need to get selling some more stuff on fleabay I think! That Drummond is just a few miles from me jamesmartin :)

BTW. I'm not feeling flush, or I wouldn't be messing around with this lump of carp ;) At least with this, I can try and build something up incrementally! I'll get something better when finances allow :)

    Bits for home-made lathe

Greetings, I have a home-made lathe, wihch I actually acquired from someone else. I think they'd taken it as far as they were going to, and I want to continue to make it better, as I just can't afford a good lathe, and if I can get some use out of this one, then I've got time to save up a...
