    Series 3 Historic status

In theory yes, it should be insured if not SORN. It would be easy to SORN and then re-tax later at £zero online, despite the advice I was given to just leave it taxed because there is no cost but it is worth considering that you would want your Landy insured whether taxed or not, surely? If...

    Series 3 Historic status

This is one of the few tangible jobs I have got done on mine recently and it was easier then I thought - decided it was best to just try it. Yes you need an MOT to get taxed so that is the deciding factor. Mine was over 40 years old and did not have an MOT and the tax class can only be changed...

    IIA Trigger's broom, almost :)

Sounds like the chassis is in fact like a Triggers broom in itself :D

    IIA Trigger's broom, almost :)

I thought that, especially the rear crossmember in that photo of the drop plate removed. Assume the OP doesn't want to faff with more patching of nasties we haven't seen plus evidently has a new glav one.

    Series 2a?

Price must have been the issue because it otherwise looked OK legit-wise, although it's possible the bulkhead is the only 2A part on it because as far as I can see, the only things which identify it as 2A are attached to it ;) I was just waiting for one of the photos to show coil springs...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Had a look at it and found it's a bit pock-marked from some recent hailstones...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Nice. I've got one of those but don't know if it works, I just found it in one of the lockers in the back of the Landy about 15 years ago. It's not a Land Rover one tho.

Where do you keep your landy?

I have the same problem. I'm a bit annoyed because the top of the doorframe has been fitted several inches lower than the lintel so the opening could be higher. I'm hoping to modify the door or change it before I'm too old to keep taking the hard top off the Landy. On the plus side the garage...

    E10 Petrol

Yes indeed and luckily the additive is still readily available. Reading this I've suddenly realised there are two E10 threads on the go at the moment...

I pulled my 84 90 CSW SWB 2.25 petrol out of the field!

Nice. You don't see an Amazon that often these days.

    Milenco pedal lock

I really like this pedal lock that Lightning has suggested, looks really secure, classy too and folding away to nothing when not in use is really handy. If you really want something yellow and highly visible, why not get one of these and spray the flat underside which is visible when locked...

    E10 Petrol

It's a 1978 109 hard top with 6 cylinder petrol engine (6pot ;)) and as far as I know the valves/seats are not hard enough for unleaded, pretty certainly the exhaust valves at least.

VIN number and Chassis number; same?

OK so that's one of the amended style VINs, I wasn't sure whether or not they came in as early as 1980. I haven't got any experience of those but I would assume that the VIN stamped on the chassis should be the same. That is the case on 'normal' cars, certainly all the ones I've had as far as...

VIN number and Chassis number; same?

Yes, they are the same. Is your VIN on the plate one of those nine figure numbers starting with 9 and ending in a letter, presumably 'C'? I'm not sure how the numbers were applied when Land Rover changed the layout of all the VINs but I would have thought both the plate and the chassis would...

    E10 Petrol

They should drop all this shyte if they're going for the phase-out of new ICE vehicles, it's not really sound to bung ethanol in the petrol because the ethanol has to be produced at some carbon cost and also crop cost, plus you burn more fuel due to the slightly lower energy content so I can't...

    Flat Bed Disco 2 Project

I can see that getting that lot done properly would be fiddly but it's coming on nicely.

Series 3 109 Six Pot Rebuild Thread

Looks like a nice fit now. Probably best to repaint it as you say because the factory paint sounds like it was a bit rubbish.

    Fog lights

They look good. I see what you mean about the positioning though.

VIN number and Chassis number; same?

    Likewise, exactly.

    Second hand car market

I'll have a look through the backup discs for some photos. Maybe we need a new thread - What else did you used to have in your garage?
