The only thing I'd add is that the distance piece on the end of the layshaft does seem to impact the severity of the notch. Not sure if that sways your thoughts at all.

Ah yes could be. Do you think it's worth me replacing the syncro again?

Forgot, I also replaced the 1st/2nd Syncro unit as there were some bits broken off.
