1975 Series 3 Rebuild (The second time around)

Did a bit more work on the bulkhead. We decided in the end to go for a different approach and replace the whole door pillar up to the top of the curve. This was due to even though we got it 99% straight, there was still quite a dish in the middle. Taking the replacement piece to work tomorrow...

    1976 series 3 rebuild

He didnt have the beacon on either, only the two **** poor candles on the front, if he did I might have realised it was a tractor haha. It was a long straight, hence why I thought it was a normal car further away

    1976 series 3 rebuild

Yeah at night, he didnt have his marker lights on so assumed it was a car a lot further down the road as only saw the 2 narrow dim headlamps in the middle, no-one was hurt so thats the main thing Means I get to do the jobs Ive been putting off now though like adding gauges and my winch so thats...

SERIES 3 WONT START , FULL LIST OF WHAT IVE TRIED!

Headgasket could well be the major cause for your non starting if its completely fubar and blowing betwixt the cylinders. May well be a combination of things though

    Opinions

Easy to fit on a series as its only 2 bolts, one going through the wing/ sill bolt hole and another through the bulkhead support, not sure if they're the same sort of design on a defender.

    Leak off pipe connectors

cylinder head... I skim read it and took it to mean head had to come off once bolt sheared, re-read and realised my mistake

    Leak off pipe connectors

Ah misread it, theres a fix with a snapped banjo bolt, usualy it snaps where the hole is drilled through, if it snaps there, you can usually get a flat bladed screwdriver in there and unscrew it

    Leak off pipe connectors

Head doesnt have to come off, only the injector thats had its thread stripped in the top

1975 Series 3 Rebuild (The second time around)

You have to re-tax the vehicle as a historic vehicle with the DVLA by sending logbook away. Once the tax class is changed to historic the vehicle is tax free and also is eligible to legally wear the older black and silver plates. So its basically on a 40 year rolling basis I do have a...

1975 Series 3 Rebuild (The second time around)

Made a bit more progress tonight, Got the drivers side headlamp in place along with its trim piece. Its not wired up yet as the wing needs to come back off to finish off the bulkhead. I also borrowed a 3mm drill from work which was used to finish drilling holes to fix the grill in place...

1975 Series 3 Rebuild (The second time around)

Only managed a couple of hours today and was too cold and damp really for any painting so carried on sorting out electrics. The passenger sidelight hole needs work as the fixing holes have corroded away. My plan is to cut the old section from the old wing and rivet it behind using countersunk...

1975 Series 3 Rebuild (The second time around)

Done some more work today! First off I took my old exhaust off and fitted my new stainless system. £160 from Paddocks, including clamps and bolts and rubber mounts, excellent value I think for something that will last the vehicles lifetime. I still have the old mild steel exhaust if anyone...

    Series 3 I have a plan... 88" camper

Ive got one of those. They do fold in half lengthways so maybe if I made a frame similar to the one in the link and chopped the legs off that would work. Will dig one out too and have an investigation into the idea
