Try and use countersunk rivets if you can. I have a tool that allows them to be made from normal pop rivets, much less noticeable as you can put filler over the top and you end with a perfectly smooth panel

I havent done it yet but what im going to do is cut the old sidelight part out of my old wing and rivet that behind the current one for the sidelight to screw into
