What have you done to your Freelander today

Just saw your above post. If you have a bolt on tow bar there are flat rear steps for £25 that are great just to get a bit higher that bolt on in between towbar ball and mounting. If you see what I mean? I was actually trying to protect the back a bit more too as couldn’t find anything else.

If it worked it worked I would be happy with that. Did you get the MOT ok?

Smug MOT pass. Sad but true.

What have you done to your Freelander today

This is the only car I have been that interested in and your attitude is the best, get it done properly and you shouldn’t have to worry then. Experience has taught me a few other lessons to bear in mind though; one being if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The fuel cradle is ok for now so I will...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Glad no one was injured, very sorry to hear of what happened. Your posts that I have read always been useful so thanks and maybe another hippo will come your way. Let’s face it, there’s plenty out there looking for good homes. Regards

What have you done to your Freelander today

On a happy note, my hippo passed MOT with flying colours on Wednesday, just had to adjust headlight beam. No advisories or anything. Fuel cradle needs replacing which I thought was most likely to be mentioned. All that grease and Hammerite must have impressed the guy sufficiently. So can do it...

I think Jamie knows his Hippos alright.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Oh that’s good to know, I will be scared to look. I will watch the thread and see how you get on. I guess the regulars such as yourself on this forum are like me, very fond of their Hippos. It’s about the only car I have really liked and a kick in the nuts when this stuff happens. Hope you get...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Is the dreaded chassis crack a thing I have not heard of? Where is it? Sorry to hear that you have found it. Cars and bikes are really starting to pee me off. Great when they work, massive pain in the arse when they don’t. Mind you, still better than horses

What have you done to your Freelander today

Don’t know if the original was active; I seem to remember it was really filthy and would be surprised if it wasn’t compromised in some way. MOT Weds; just had a (hopefully) last look over. Number plate lights are a pain in the arse but working at the moment so if they survive a few days that...

And I didn’t think she knew anything about what the car needed doing to it.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I changed my EGR for same looking kit as you a few years ago and I thought it ran better straight away and never had any problems.

What have you done to your Freelander today

MOT on Wednesday and as post above from Colthebrummie I have replaced drop links which were adviseries last year and done everything I could see that looked dodgy; new discs, pads, greased things, but the fuel cradle needs replacing for sure. I am hoping that it will pass then do it in next few...

    Freelander 1 TD4 remap

I can’t see any TD4 getting failed for not having an EGR unless the engine is trashed anyway. I think my TD4 was dirtier and emitted more with the EGR on.

    TD4 Clutch

Had mine done by a clutch place recommended by a friend who is also a mechanic. Looked like enormous scope to totally wreck the car for my limited skill set. Cost a fortune but trust my friends recommendation. Felt like I was wussing out though, but as Clint said; ‘a good man knows his limitations’.

Freelander 1 Engine guard bolts/screws can i get them any one got any?

There are some great threads on how to make a better sump guard yourself where you can change the plastic tray to metal (I used a bit of Chequerplate or something) then you only have to drop the plate off and can leave the 13 or something bolted frame in place. I think Alibro May have done it...

    Freelander 1 2.0 TD4 4x4 FUEL RAIL HIGH PRESSURE SENSOR LR009732 - repair

I had a problem with the HPF sensor; I kept having to disconnect it and clean it until I smeared some silicon grease to seal the plug after cleaning it. Been fine ever since and that was 2 years ago. I guess it was condensation forming basically.
