Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

I am by no means a metal fabricator but by using the frame of the rubbish plastic supplied undertray it wasn’t hard. I used riv bolts and a couple of pieces of angle iron and it works great, just have to undo the bolts to take off the tray leaving the frame in place for oil changes etc.

    High pressure fuel rail connection

I was contemplating replacing the drivers door on my 3 door as it’s dinged

Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

I used 4mm check plate for mine I think and although it’s not gnna be as strong as steel it was easy to work with and has done a great job. And I work in a scrap yard and Alibro is right there is always a variety of stuff you could use turning up you could pay a few quid for.

    High pressure fuel rail connection

I thought there would be something dodgy about it. Although a boost in power is tempting i would much rather Roary keeps on chugging along quite merrily like he is at the moment. Probably gnna need to change the plug that clicks onto the HP sensor soon, got it ‘temporarily’ fixed with a zip tie...

    High pressure fuel rail connection

I am having trouble with the high pressure fuel rail electrical contact and will have to replace it at some point. I have temporarily fixed it for now. I work in a scrapyard so was waiting for a TD4 to come in so I can recycle some parts. A 3 series BMW was in today so I had a look at the...

    Rear brakes TD4

Yeah I seem to remember the same process on another car I had years ago, if that is all it is I shall get around to it before the next mot. Which bushes?

    Rear brakes TD4

Ok, thanks. I have done a few of them on other cars as I remember. Think there’s a few threads here about it so maybe get round to it….but then again it’s an advisory so it’s a problem for 12 months away. Probably wait and see if it keeps on running that long 😂

    Rear brakes TD4

Good news: MOT passed before I have replaced the drums and shoes but new set coming so will do it anyway but not this weekend as I thought I would have to. Got advisories on; suspension arm ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated front (both sides). Anyone know about these or any pictures...

    Rear brakes TD4

Thanks a lot that’s great. I am gnna order new drums and shoes tonight and get it sorted at the weekend hopefully. And thanks to everyone for the input, great forum this. Or maybe Hippo owners are cool 😎 . Hmm..could be a bumper sticker there.

    Rear brakes TD4

Nice one thanks a lot. So if I was to intervene, because I strongly suspect the auto adjuster doesn’t work, i slacken off handbrake adjuster under arm rest, then I turn ratchet to get shoes just rubbing, then adjust handbrake cable? I think I will get the garage to retest the handbrake but if...

    Rear brakes TD4

Well that’s what I thought but I am confusing myself looking through adverts on EBay that keep telling me that the bits won’t fit! I am sure I had no problems with the brake shoes

    Rear brakes TD4

Hello all, can anyone tell me if the rear drums on my 2006 FL1 TD4 3 door are a different size or anything to the 5door. Last time I bought shoes I don’t remember there being any difference but that was a while ago. But I ordered some drums that were supposed to fit and found out today that they...

    Headlight cleaning

Bought headlamp cleaning stuff, seem a lot better and put new bulbs in. If it clears up this afternoon I’m gnna do them again and put a coat of the stuff on them that came with the cleaning kit. Then adjusted handbrake at drum and cable, which wasn’t as big a pain as it could’ve been. So will...

    Headlight cleaning

Gnna give it a go today if/when stops raining. Also gtta adjust hand brake as self adjuster doesn’t work. Obviously 🙄. Hopefully get mot for another happy years motoring in my Hippo 🦛

    Headlight cleaning

Ok, I have read a few more posts and think the problem is not on the inside but the outside as with everyone else’s post. The really annoying thing is I work in a scrapyard and we have binned 3 TD4’s in the last few months I could have had the lights off

    Headlight cleaning

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to demist/clean the inside of the headlight cluster on my Freelander 1 TD4? It is the facelift front and has failed the mot on this. I am really hoping it can be done without removing the whole unit but looking at it think it can’t. I think I have seen a...
