I've not studied the TD5 engine management particularly closely except for the maintenance manual, but as has been stated by Ratty they do have an anti stall most definitely in low range. I do vaguely recall some mention back when the Puma was first released that it's anti stall was superior to...

Rule No1. Don't rule out the bleedin obvious. Have you checked the fluid level? :p Seriously might be worth taking some fluid out and putting some Lucas power steering leak stop in it ;) Not cos it leaks (hopefully anyway) but it may at least make it work better ;)

Battery terminals clean and tight? Also in addition to Brians list, check main relay ;) It is also possible that the ECU plug pins are loose ( Took months for me to find I had that one) :rolleyes: Some may say fuel pump but I know mine will start and run (albeit rough) with the fuel relay...
