    help...new seats for battery access......

Hi all I am fitting new front seats to my 110. The new seats have narrower and shorter rails. My concern is that they would not clear the removable plates on the seat box for battery and same on drivers side. I won't have the vehicle with me to measure for 3 weeks and need to do some planning...

    200TDI exhaust question........

Hopefully just a quickie having searched dozens of exhaust threads to no avail. I have a retro fitted defender 200tdi 110- started life as TD. I am looking to replace the complete 200tdi exhaust prior to taking it to Canada- 79 quid from Paddocks! Am I right in thinking I don't need any...

    County 110 Sill Replacement......

Hi all With the underside and engine done, I am now ready to tackle the bodywork of my 110 SW. Going over it tonite I pulled out the rubbers (riveted in place) that run along the sills of the body where the doors close onto. There is a rounded lip on top and they interface with the...

    200tdi rebuilt engine........worried!

Thanks for the reassurance. One other thing that got me was that he said the bores were fine and only needed honing. It dawned on me (after the fact) that I recall reading that stock pistons are no longer available and a rebore is needed for the available oversized ones. If this is true...

    200tdi rebuilt engine........worried!

Hi Picked up my wheels after having lots of work done couple of days ago- galv chassis, new suspension, bushes etc etc. I also had the engine rebuilt while everything was nice and accessible. Unfortunately none of this was done locally. On my way up to get the work done it had blown 6 litres...

    Defender/OneTen suspension fitment....

Thanks for the fast reply. He says he didn't have time for a good play to get it to fit so hopefully he can get it sorted. So from what you are saying, ALL std shocks will fit ALL Defenders/OneTen so long as std height springs? Begs the question why you'd pay the extra from the postWA...

    Defender/OneTen suspension fitment....

Hi all I am fitting new suspension all round to my LR 110 (1989). I have new standard height genuine springs all round (from Rimmers) and Bilstein B6 shocks from Paddock Spares. The guy fitting the shocks says they don't seem to fit- LR specialist ex MOD landy engineer etc. He says 2" lift...

    110 rear axle........

Hi I am exchanging my 1988 110 drum rear axle for the disc discovery type so will therefore have a surplus axle for sale. To advertise it, am I right in thinking the original is a salisbury rear axle or were there other drum axle variants? Thanks

    Oil leak/burning......

My Def 200TDi is blowing oil up dipstick and through rocker cover filler cap. It is also smoking ++ from exhaust. I realised this on its way to getting it put on a galv chassis- priorities now a bit mixed up:(. Lost 5L on way up (250 miles), mostly from dipstick tube- chassis leg underneath...

    alternator damage......

so, fitted turbo-first job on Landy, so chuffed but.......... when reconnecting hoses/pipes etc, metal pipe from low side of intercooler to turbo got a little too close to alternator blades making a hell of a racket when starting up:eek:! yesterday, car did approx 30 miles after this with no...

    200tdi turbo oil drain pipe.......

Got to it again this evening and decided to give the manifold-removal route a try. Everything came away easily- manifold nuts a little too easy I thought but did not check torque at the time. Only hiccup is the bracket securing the turbo oil pipes to the inlet manifold. It is on a long...

    200tdi turbo oil drain pipe.......

update: pipe still not removed. nut size 7/8 but no room around it to turn spanner. vice grips won't hold (thin nose) or too large to turn against housing. next plan is to cut off shoulders from spanner to allow it around the nut- hopefully not torqued up otherwise spanner will crack! others...

    200tdi turbo oil drain pipe.......

Thanks folks Tried the mole grips but can't get grips on flat of nut and also no chance of turning grips due to lack of space. Could try smaller mole grips! Had a look at removing manifold but there is a manifold nut in the middle adjacent to turbo housing again with very little space. I...

    200tdi turbo oil drain pipe.......

Defender 200tdi turbo swap today (attempted). Any ideas how to remove oil drain pipe? Nut is big with bugger-all space between it and turbine housing. Ring spanner no good due to pipe. Not even sure what size it is- bigger than 3/4 (other nuts imperial)! Large nut= long spanner and I have...

    Part number needed......

Does this hose have a temperature resistance requirement? I understand it is a breather hose and passes over the rocker cover from air filter box. Mine is an oily/frayed mess due in part to turbo going. Just wondering if cheaper alternative to genuine would do plus it is hard to find as a...

    Part number needed......

I have looked in the catalogue I have but it is not detailed in the diagram. I need to replace the black fabric braided hose that comes off the air filter box and swings over the rocker cover- Defender 200tdi engine. Hose about 3/4 inch diam. Would a kind soul offer the part number? Thanks
