I've brought a good condition block to fit my heads to, I'll strip and a fault find the original block later, probably rebuild if it's useable.

I should have said mine is a 1996 disco. So I'll need to replace the nuts and studs, I'll look for the torque sequence for these. Where's best to get the fixing from for the con rods and mains? Thanks

Hi all, I've looking to replace my big end and main shells on my 3.9 and I'm sure that the con rod bolts needs replacing is it the same case for the mains bolts? Also there seems to be two types of con rod fixings, bolt or studs and nuts, do the stud and nut version also need replacing? Im yet...

I asked the same question on here and was told that if the turbo is on top it's a defender engine and if it's below like yours then it's from a discovery, hope this is right and that it helps.

Great project, and I like to colour. Definitely and Subaru engine block in the 1st picture, possibly a non turbo one.

Im on bio aswell in my 200tdi 90, but its 1.20 in kent. Its running fine but just doesnt feel like its got the power it has on normal diesel but for the money i can complain. Jack

I know, but I'll look in to playing with the fuel pump. Plus I don't want speed, that would just be scary lol I'm want to see if I can get some more torque from the old girl. Thanks for all your help. Jack

Thanks for all your help, that put my mind at rest. As for the rad temp sensor I could dine with adjusting it as the temp gauge on the dash always sits at the edge of the white part. Now it know what engine I can find out how to make it faster ;) Jack
