Mounting heavy wheel on rear door...HELP..

I bought a Britpart made carrier from Paddocks. It has a sliding fitting that has to be bolted to the rear door panel that slides in and out when the door is opened/closed. So too late to get a different one now. I bought part number DA2232 .

    TD5 EGR Removal/Blanking

You dont need a blanking plate as the Alisport tube/pipe comes with the feed to the EGR corrugated pipe blanked off already. It has a mushroom like pipe that the old EGR clamp fits onto to hold the old egr pipe to the Alisport pipe even though no fumes can pass through it. Its their way of...

Here is what my swivel plugs are like. Not raised square versions . Any one know the part number of these? Or where to get them online?

TD5 straight through exhaust quieter than with silencer fitted!

Just had Storm Tuning remap level 2 done and the exhaust sounds lovely when i have the windows open on my TD5 defender. It growls up hills now without any problem at all and is no longer a slow and under powered farm vehicle. Noise from the straight through centre box is not a problem at all and...

Mounting heavy wheel on rear door...HELP..

Did you mean drill the holes in the new door or in the internal panel behind the the two front seats? Cos if i put it on the internal panel and use a bit of space up inside it wont then mean i have to ruin the rear door which is brand new and freshly spray painted. If i go the internal way, i...

    Front door striker plates.

I just changed both of these as i have added two new from doors on the Defender. The new versions have a nylon roller that the door locks onto on the door striker plates. I also added two new backplates with the two welded nuts on them. What i now have is a nice easy closure on the two doors...

    Sound deadening on Def TD5

I added a new safari door in nice new paint recently. I then decided to add some sound deadening to it and other areas in the rear loading area too. I used Dodomat which comes in sheets of aboutA4 size with self adhesive backing on the rubberised material. Its fire proof and stops the panels...

    Spare wheel mounting

Just renewed my rear safari door and repainted it. SO i dont want to put back the three bolt wheel mount and have bought a Britpart swingaway jobbie. Trouble is i dont want to drill the holes for the new bolts so its still in the garage.... My old door couldnt take the weight of the Boost alloy...

    Power Steering Pump

The steering pump pipes have 'O' rings in the end of the pipes. I bet its one of these that failerd. A cheap fix is to just do new 'O' rings but i would do the entire pipe if it was on my motor. A new pressurised motor to steering box pipe is about £25 and it comes with new O ring seals..

Clutch cylinders seal refurb or new cylinders?

WHy bother doing the seals when a new slave cylinder is so cheap? You still risk failure even after adding new seals as the inside of the slave may be worn or pitted and it will fail again.

TD5 straight through exhaust quieter than with silencer fitted!

I added a straight thru centre pipe too on my TD5 and its also no louder than the standard box. Its cheaper than replacing with a new boxed centre as well. Then i added an ITG panel air filter and then i noticed more noise like intake roar but its not that loud and obtrusive at all. I like the...

    Defender clock

Anyone out there have the resistor sizes of the LR clock from a 2001 TD5? Or a picture of them as they have lines on them denoting the load rating etc.

    TD5 EGR Removal/Blanking

You dont need to add a blanking plate as the new Alisport pipe that replace the EGR comes with a big mushroom type thing that the old corrugated EGR feed pipe then clamps onto. There is then no need to remove the two rusty old blots and have the risk of snapping them. Trouble is though the refit...

Mounting heavy wheel on rear door...HELP..

I have the alloys on my Def 90 TD5 and a three bolt wheel carrier was on the rear safari door. The weight of the heavy wheel/tyre destroyed the rear door totally and it bent the door a lot from the top to the door handle area. I bought a new rear door and painted it and then bought a swingaway...

    TD5 EGR Removal/Blanking

I am Ok with the EGR blank now after a long and crappy session fitting it. I also managed to find a nice man from DWlandrover who sold me a second egr clamp just in case i have to use it to refit the old egr for an mot reason etc etc. My problem fitting the Alisport pipe kit could have been a...

    Swivel Housing Drain Plug Size

No good for a 2001 TD5 Defender as mine are not raised square heads on them , they are square holes in the filler plugs, A previous owner had mullered one of the two front swivel filler plugs so i had to grind down a socket extension to a smaller size and tap it into the once square hole. I got...

2001 TD5 ‘faints’ at +/-3200rpm when accelerating under load

Could it be turbo wastegate sticking and or over boost happening which will cut engine power every time.

Defender 110 fast wiper speed not working....

Solved the lack of higher speed wipers at last. I had already renewed the relay and the switch on the steering column. I then spent a day stripping out the dash to use a m/meter on it all. I swapped over the wires so i could ensure the switch was talking to the motor so i got slow on the high...

Def 90 wiring to fix wipers

Fixed my wiper issue now with a new wiper motor at last. I had already renewed the relay and the steering column switch as well. I now have intermittent, slow and fast speed wipers again - lovely jubbly. I also put in a new drive cog in it so i assume the problem was the wiper motor internal...

    Defender clock

I found out that my Defender 90 TD5 clock on my 2001 car has a blown resistor and can be repaired for pennies. Save buying a new LR one at £150 which is a bit steep.
