    Series 2 bouncy springs

OEM are armstrong, if you go on ebay and type the part number of your shocks you bought, but add armstrong, you will find them p.s this is a long shot, but have you also fitted new springs recently ? (standard or otherwise) because its very likely when your truck is on the ground that the...

    Series Half Shaft Bearings

i know this thread is from march, but i fitted mine with the retaining collar outwards (facing the axle tube) i figured the swivel housing would stop them on the inside, plastic ring stop them on the outside. maybe that was the source of your slipping bearings ?

    SERIES ONE PRICE BUBBLE?

have to agree, i've owned shorties since 2009 and they are the least practical "car" i have ever owned. load space is deceptively short, and unhelpfully high. i always said i would never have another swb and then promptly bought one anyway! i think the proportions of an 88 are more...

Series 3 Chassis repairs - advice needed

i'm not against DIY what so ever as i cut my teeth restoring a 1984 landy myself, however, know the fabrication skill and amount of time it takes to get ok, i would not like to learn to weld on structurally significant areas of a land rover. the bumpstop areas would also required upside down...

    LR S2A Steering relay oil

method ! has to be said they take an age for the oil to drain down due to the tight fitting parts, so much so you will be fooled into thinking its nice and topped up when it isnt. i dont know the exact capacity but it took 9 of these syringes, so just under 100ml. which is like half a water...

    Series 3 Towing Electrics

from what i know they are thermal relays, so its a bimetallic strip of given resistance that heats up and makes contact, and the rest is mathematical equation of bulb wattage, voltages and resistance. so yeah, basically if you change the load (add 2 more bulbs) the indicators change speed...

    Series 2 Brake problem

well hot brakes are obviously the shoes binding on. the reason for this could be related to the slave cylinder seizing on that effected wheel. the brake hose for rear wheels are shared, a T piece from the same brake hose, so if it were a problem with master cylinder or flexi hose becoming a 1...

    Series seats

interesting discussion actually. i'm 6 foot and mostly legs, ive always been a hunched driver, by that i mean leaning forward, quite upright. even the thought of driving with the seat reclined makes me queasy. so in that sense the ninety and series 3 (with less than modern orientation)...

    Series seats

deluxe series seats had sliders on outer two seats, square frame ontop which the seat base jammed into (standard on station wagons, factory optional on others) normal series 2/3 slab seat just had fixed brackets to hold the back rest in place, seat bases just plopped on top held in with...

    Space saver wheel

what will you do with the extra half a tyres thickness space gain :p i feel you though, cant stand the spare on the bonnet or eating up leg space/cargo space in the rear (which is actually quite small in an 88) swing away could still be possible ? or what about side saddle like the MOD wolfs...

    Leaf springs short

best to jack and support the truck from the chassis rails. then you can manoeuvre the axles independently with the jack. so basically leave the spring, then jack the axle up to the spring.
