    I'm over my embarrassment

I went out in the snow before Christmas in Derbyshire in my X-reg TD5 manual Disco and slid on ice into a drystone wall very gently. I'm now over the embarrassment and feel I can tell you about it and having fixed the damage with about £60 worth of parts need to know something. I was...

    Cruise control kit

The kit is fairly expensive. I paid just about £40 pounds for the two switches needed. What you cannot buy alone is a small bracket. So £75 for the kit means they are charging you £35 for a small metal bracket. The job took me about an hour and a half and the majority of that time was...

what you all think of my td5

OK Discodavy has the above answered your question? You are a very brave man to ask this forum our opinion on your vehicle. You have certainly got lots of opinions but I'd like to know whether any of them fit your view of your vehicle. I'm not offering my own opinion as Landys are very...

    Judder when pulling away

Hi there, my experience points to oil contamination of the clutch. I bought a 2000 TD5 ES a few months ago which had done a couple of hundred miles in the last 6 months. When I bought it it juddered on first gear when pulling away but this gradually went in a few weeks and now has no judder...

    Disco 2 5-7 seat conversion

Hi Dave D, Just a word of warning to you if your Disco is coil sprung. Your insurance is likely to be invalid as only air sprung 7 seater Discos are type approved by DVLA. Regards

how do you fold away the rear seats?

If its a D2 then grip the black bar at the rear of the seat and twist to unlock the seat and lift to the side. You can do it with one hand when you get the knack.

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

Hiclones, you either love 'em or hate 'em, bit like Marmite and some folk would have you believe that Marmite would work just as well. I was buying my set from DLS in Wirksworth and asked the guy behind the counter his opinion and he told me that the Hiclone salesman who came to them had...

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

Hi again, It's taken a long time to get back to the subject but I've now had this TD5 back on the Nanocom for a run after the MAF sensor change of the title of this thread. As i said I was getting a reading of 220-240 for the air flow before I changed it and now get a reading of 490 at 70 mph...

    start up noise

Hi there, Had mine 2000 TD5 for about 3 months. I've never thought anything was wrong but when I turn the key and wait for the glow plug light to go out there is a whirring sound, then I turn the key and there is a clunk as you describe (not imediately on turning the key) and the whirring...

    discovery td5 idle speed error

Hi Ultra, Don't panic it's not an error at all. The figure given is calculated by Nanocom unit and is the difference between actual engine speed and what the idle speed should be. Normal idle speed is 742 rpm give or take a smidgen so if actual engine speed is say 2500 the idle speed...

    Am I going mad ??

You're already mad owning a Discovery 2. No actually you are seeing things correctly. The sunroof switches do not light up. A pretty cheap way of getting around running a wire into the roofspace from Land Rover. The fantastic Mr Discovery2 can cure this problem for you is you look on his...

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

The thread I was reading came from Australia TD5 AFM replaced - Page 4 - Australian Land Rover Owners It is 5 pages long and has lots of interesting bits and pieces. They give reading you can get from using a Nanocom disgnostic tool.

    Oil residue Intercooler Hoses

Hi there, I had the same with an old 90 with silicone hoses. It looked like they were damp all the time. i used to wipe them down and next time I looked it was the same again. I never got to the bottom of why it happened.

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

I suppose MAF sensors a bit like a light bulb. The light works but you don't notice it getting slightly dimmer over the years until you fit a new oneand realise how much brighter it is. MAF sensor at £100 + can be bought for a quarter that price.

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

Hi all, Recently bought a DII TD5 (2000) after many years of LR's, last one a 90. First thing I bought was a NANOCOM. Got mine off the internet you don't have to pay £230. Nanocom gives so much information that first I was swamped. Slowly looking at all forums both here and abroad I started...

    is this power steering ?

hi all Thought it was too good to be true. Been driving my new (2000MY D2 TD5) motor now for a few weeks. Getting no faults from the Nanocom and everything seeming to be OK until... Looking underneath the front noticed a leak had splattered the front just along the under engine tray. It is...

    Air suspension question

Thanks for that, it seems to explain what is going on. I'll keep an eye on whether one air bag or the other has a leak and report back. If an air bag has a leak does it leak when you park it, half an hour later or at any time? Regards

    Air suspension question

Hi all, Just moved over from the Defender forum as my defender was stolen and I couldn't face trying to recreate the same so I've gone and bought myself a Discovery 2 TD5 ES (2000MY). I've read loads of stuff on here and elsewhere about what to look out for and think I've bought a good 'un...

90 2.5TD white smoke when starting

I posted a reply on here very recently pointing out the rupture a small rubber diaphragm where the turbo boost pipe joins the fuel pump. Its purpose is to increase the fueling at high boost. When it ruptures pressure is passed along the fuel return pipe and pressurises the fuel tank. This is a...

    Stolen in Sheffield on 14/8

Had a thought last night, how do you find Land Rovers that have lots of goodies on them to nick. If you have an E-Bay site selling bits and pieces they come to you. Over the past 3 years I've bought lots of bits and pieces off Ebay. Eventually I hit one guy trading who then has my name and...
