    Pinking

Maybe worth checking that engine oil is not over filled and also change the crankcase breather filter.

Possible fuel pump death need advise please

When testing for a live feed the front pump must actually be running. It times out after a minute. Check you are testing against a good earth. There is an earth header for the in-tank pump behind the RH side panel near the tail door hinge.

    Broke down!

The other pump is in the fuel tank combined with the fuel gauge sender. You should check if you can hear that one running at the same time as the under bonnet pump. There is an access plate under the rear seat.

Possible fuel pump death need advise please

I think you've sussed it. Both pumps should run together at ignition on, so your findings suggest the in-tank one has failed if it's only the under bonnet pump that's running.

will not rev past 2500 then MIL comes on

Filter 60k or 5yrs so should be ok then. Pump could still be tired, the fact it runs doesn't necessarily mean it can deliver at required rate. There should a be fault code stored so you have the option to go for a new pump or have codes read first.

L series, engine management lght, low revs .Turbo ?

I wouldn't stick my neck out and say anything will definitely work. The problem is the older the vehicle the less compliant they are with anything other than LRs own 'Testbook'. There are other professional code readers may well work but the price dictates only pro's can afford them. A Hawkeye...

L series, engine management lght, low revs .Turbo ?

Apart from checking for obvious problems with any of the sensor connections and checking the injector pump harness connection there's not much point in guessing and you should get fault codes read from the ECM.

    MPG drop with new injector

I can't think of any reason why this would cause increased fuel consumption. It could be coincidental and due to falling temperatures.

    maf sensor

Aye yer right there were reports that a few people had used this new pierburg Maf on Td4s but it appears that Ron has tested one and found otherwise. One thing though as regards you assumption that you Maf is knackered, if you disconnect it and there is a marked improvement in the way the...

    Broke down!

 If your referring to the Lp pump it just stops working. If you mean the Hp pump then yes they have been known to leak some when cold reducing/stopping as the pump body warms up.
