    Disco 1 Rear Chassis repairs

Frostythor, thanks for the input - great ideas, the floor in general is very solid so putting an angled joddled piece in would be great. I bought the flat floor panels but I will use these to make the angle pieces. Taking that rear seat panel out is a great idea to be honest, its great to have...

    restarting my D1 V8 project - been a while!!

I am going to make up some sort of frame work to support the body when lifted, could be tricky on an angle. Rear quarters are off, sills are in very good original condition, only the rear of the sills to plate and I am going to weld these up 1st then do the door inner panels to the C post then...

    restarting my D1 V8 project - been a while!!

Hello, Yes I will take some pics. I cannot fully remove / move the chassis out due to where I have the beast parked. Plan is to remove all the mounts up to the front ones then just loosen these off then lift the body at the rear, this should give enough clearance to do the welding repairs and...

    restarting my D1 V8 project - been a while!!

Work done today; Removed the arms connected by the ball joint on the axle top, took my time and got the nuts and bolts off, took 45 minutes, the bushes are still sound. Removed the seat belt to chassis mounts, again I took my time and saved all the hard ware. Cleaned the Lpg pipes and the axle...

    Disco 1 Rear Chassis repairs

Europa486 Thanks for the reply. I have last year discussed lifting the body of completely and yes that is the best way, I found it difficult finding a method to do it, shortage of space on my drive was one problem. I have found some DIY plans to construct a frame that can lift the body up around...

    Disco 1 Rear Chassis repairs

Maybe this is the best place to ask questions regarding repairing rear chassis on my D1 OK I need to do some welding to the mountings where the large round X member joins the chassis rails. How far can I jack up the chassis at the rear with all of the body mounts removed. Aware that will have...

    Repairing my 1998 V8

Well I had a great result today. After a false start and I reattached the earths on the rear posts. The Beast fired up first turn of the key. There was a leaky return pipe so I extended the hose from the tank cut out the rotten pipe. Moved the beast for the first time in a year - think its been...

Well been a while and sorry for no updates. I have been fixing up my 1989 GPZ900R and this lockdown is a pain in the a.se! Done nothing to the V8 for a few months now. A few days ago I decided to move the V8 closer to my garage door so I can start the welding. I thought just strap the fuel tank...

    Repairing my 1998 V8

@resto_d1, Thanks for the advice, I have been fairly dormant with the beast as weather been either bloody cold or windy. @border, too expensive to lift the body off with crane, should be doable with 4 strong blokes. I have decided I would like to use the beast for a bit so..... I am going to...
