The answer however, was not related to the clutch though :-) Same sound as you described, removed rear prop from handbrake...

Fair play.. I did Maroc on my bike in 2010, PM-Santander, but returned St-Malo, purely so I could detour over the Pyreneese, and visit Oradour sur glane on the way back. I wouldn't drive the length of France as well as Spain again, unless I was sightseeing, more time in maroc I say.. May bump...
