    Turbo boost actuator issue?

Hi Artic, Just reading through the threads and it seems I may have fitted the wrong solenoid… i purchased a new turbo boost solenoid (STC4198) and replaced the solenoid under the manifold which is actually the EGR solenoid! (part 2a in photo attached - for a bmw engine so ignore the references...

    Turbo boost actuator issue?

thanks Artic, much appreciated. I’ll try disconnecting the MAF and see what happens. The Egr solenoid I have has the little box clipped on its side similar to rimmer brothers, Is there turbo vent filter another option instead of that vent box or is it connected to a different hose? i fired...

    Turbo boost actuator issue?

Just double checked, the part I replaced is: STC4198 (solenoid valve for Freelander TD4, 04 Reg). Is there another solenoid valve which controls flow to turbo? is there a part number for the little air filter on the STC4198? I just re-used the old one (with pen pointing to it) on the new...

    Turbo boost actuator issue?

Hey Artic and Gel, It’s not the first photo but the other one (replaced the first one last month). I took a reading with the i900 just getting p1470, other threads show this as loss of boost pressure iirc. Maybe the plastic manifold is cracked, must do a smoke test or something. The other...

    Turbo boost actuator issue?

Hi folks, Freelander TD4 2004 has been struggling on motorway to go over 50 mph, 2000 rev with engine light comes on when going over 2000 revs but resets when slows… Followed the main threads on this forum and changed out with Land Rover original parts: * Turbo solenoid valve (2 hose...

M10 bolt stud to inlet manifold came loose - how to fix?

Cheers mate, excellent photos. Yeah it’s actually the brass Collect, it came out of the engine housing, so are you saying a new Collect will actually work if inserted (by hammer?) as it’s walls are rough enough to bite into the housing and wedge tight so to speak? thanks for quick reply by the...

M10 bolt stud to inlet manifold came loose - how to fix?

Hi folks, Just after refitting the inlet manifold and one of the bronze studs came loose, won’t tighten to recommended 10 Nm (or any torque!). Removed inlet manifold cover again and noticed the stud stuck to bolt. I cleaned out the nut socket in engine block and nut, applied unibond metal epoxy...

What size bolts hold the electric socket to tow bar

hi folks, Just fitted new uk style official Land Rover tow bar to Freelander, but just noticed the three bolts with nuts and tension washers are not there ! The three bolts are small long bolts that go through the electric socket housing and fits onto the narrow flange housing sticking out to...

Freelander 1 Where’s the second nut securing the starter motor?

Thanks N, found it. Second bolt is out of view from all angles, it’s tucked under the cables just to right of main electric cable going toward elec connections starter - see photo taken looking square on end view of starter housing (from battery side). Just put a 13mm socket onto narrow...

Freelander 1 Where’s the second nut securing the starter motor?

Evening Landy Lovers Started taking out my starter motor yesterday for repair and cannot locate the second bolt securing it in place. I can’t align the image from Rave nor a suppliers image to the actual bolt position. I’ve so far removed the easy to spot bolt on bottom flange, removed nut...

Starter Motor Removal (2001) TD4 Freelander

Thanks for great photo guide N, I’ve removed everything except the second bolt - it’s hard to locate. Is the third photo taken from under the car looking up? Does this bolt go into the starter housing unlike the second bolt which has a nut? Rave manual makes it look like two bolts on same...

Is failing prop shaft bearings unsafe to drive?

Evening Gents, Was doing some final checks on prop before ordering reconditioned VCU tomorrow and noticed the hardy spicer connecting rear prop to VCU has a bit of play in it. Is this a part you would recommend Land Rover original or would OEM do the job? Many thanks, A

Is failing prop shaft bearings unsafe to drive?

Thanks J, Have you a recommended brand / link for one? I’ve seen this looks good (450 Nm). Tried tapping bolt today with a 2LB lump hammer no joy, tried oil spray etc, looks like the whole IRD is moving around the Bolt! Ordered replacement bolts, now just to get it off!
