FUNNY(im crying really it gets worse)

If it's a 2004 then it will have the remote thermostat fitted as standard. Was fitted from around 2001 onwards methinks. Check the radiator, usually top tube where it meets the plastic tank on the side of the radiator. :)

    Expansion Tank Cap

You could wire it in with the engine coolant temp sensor as this would then drive the temp guage into the red when the collant level is too low. Or you could fit your own light / buzzer maybe. :)

td4 black smoke, loss of power

Check for split turbo hose. Mine went on the inside bend of the short 90deg hose on the intake manifold. They also go on the longer turbo hose that rubs on the screw on the top front of the engine. Hope that you get a job sorted asap. :)

    Expansion Tank Cap

Yep good advice, always fit the level sensor on a K1.8 car. The level sensor unit goes downstream of the expansion tank. Can't remember the latest expansion tank part number, but the cap is PCD000090. If I remember rightly you can't get the old tank any more so you have to get the newer one and...

    High Speed Power Loss

Hi, I don't think it should hold the vacuum overnight, but if the little filter was blocked then it wouldn't be able to release that vacuum by venting through that filter to atmosphere. Hope that it sorts your problem anyway :)

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

Hi, I bought my boost solenoid from Trinity Motors in Hinckley. It's supposed to be about £41 + Vat but he said he'd sort me a cash discount, and it ended up as about £34 incl Vat which was a good result. The parts bit of Trinity is down the side of the place, not within the main LR dealership...

    Front brake calliper guide pins

Thanks for the info. I think they were about £13 + vat for the kit. I'm not sure if that just does one side though and therefore i'd need 2 kits. Will give them a call this morning and find out. Cheers.

    Front brake calliper guide pins

Hi all, I'm changing my front pads and discs this weekend, got the parts ready to go. But the LR dealer reckons that in the LR parts system it says to also renew the guide pins at the same time as you renew the pads. There's a kit available from LR to do it. I've never done that on any other...

    td4 engine management light

I've had the 70mph issue, see here for info.... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/td4-lack-power-70mph-fixed-77147.html I didn't get an engine mgmnt light though so it may be a different issue. Worth a try though as only takes minutes to test.

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

Radnorman... I have got a USB code reader from China via Fleabay but it says that there are no codes in there. Whether it's really no codes, or whether that's my dodgy Chinese code reader, who knows. Yep it's the angle of the vanes in the exhaust side of the turbo that varies how much it spins...

    Another mistery coolant leak

These also leak from the radiator. Usually it's from the top of the radiator at the end of the tube on the grille side. Unfortunately that makes it difficult to see easily. It's an aluminium rad and when the tube crack first occurs it's only small and thus will sometimes only leak when the car...

    Td4 Lack of power at 70mph - fixed !

Hello all, just thought i'd update you on the cause of my lack of power issues with my Td4 03MY in case it helps anyone. I initially had a split turbo hose whilst on the M6. It was the short 90 deg hose. Symptoms were initially lack of power, and then black smoke and air whistling sounds...

    TD4 Turbo problem??

Funnily enough my hose split on the M6 yesterday. It was the short right angled hose on the top of the engine. It split on the inside of the bend along it's length. I stopped at B&Q and did a quick repair with gaffer tape, and then bought and fitted a replacement last night for just under a...

How to prevent and repair K series Engine Failure

Nah it's definitely a remote colant level sensor and not part of the main coolant tank. It's a small black plastic unit with a float insde it and a level sensor clipped into the bottom. Part number PCF500060, see link here... PCF500060 EXPANSION TANK AND SENSOR UNIT | Freelander 1996>: Engine...

How to prevent and repair K series Engine Failure

I bought a TD4, but if i'd have got a K1.8 the first thing I would do is to fit a coolant level sensor. It won't address the root cause of the problem, but it will tell you to stop before the engine goes bang. The K engine can't handle much coolant loss, so if it goes much below emptying the...
