Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

Ah, that's a shame that they couldn't make it. I'm going to London (again) today to try and get a visa for Iran, so hopefully I will have my passport back in time. Ian, what is your handheld CB like? I don't think I'm gonna have time to fit mine back in again, and not entirely sure it actually...

Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

It's not looking good to be honest. I'm hoping it has been resolved in two weeks

Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

Do we have any worries about the fuel strikes going on in France?

Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

Excellent, and I shall bring your spanner! Don't worry about the rad pipes, I have got a complete silicon set to go on before I go. If they blow, all hope is lost. Started fitting stuff back in the 90 yesterday, getting exciting now

    Slow speed Clunk when turning.

I had something like this on my 90, turned out while green laning it had landed heavily on the sliders and had ruined the thread on the bolt that held the body to the chassis, so it was everything moving! I would imagine that it is not the same problem but it shows that you have to look everywhere!

1991 Defender 110 - Hawk Central Locking Retrofit - How To....

I wish this was around before I did mine. Though I still have the passenger door to do at some point

Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

We are going defender I think. Mainly cos I don't want to scratch the CX-5 and it doesn't matter with the defender. We won't bring as much stuff as last time though! We can only make it down on the 10th as I don't have any more time off than that. So I guess meet you in Nantes?

Off-roading in France June 2016 anyone?

We are pleased to announce that we are back in for this trip :D Very pleased! Now I just need to decide whether to take my CX-5 or the defender. Votes please! The defender doesn't have the best reliability record but the CX-5 is a bit of a car

    Another 90 Rebuild

I think the newer ones have a plinth but it isn't required for an MOT. I removed mine as it was scabby looking and it looks a lot tidier without it

    Another 90 Rebuild

No, mine was a Marslands, but I think it is a case that the tdci chassis doesn't have the brackets in the same place. I used two standard brackets and one of those horrible adjustable cradle things

    Theft of Defender doors

I read somewhere about putting silicon or weld into the heads. They are captive nuts so you can just drill them out apparently. Or you could just drill the pozidrive bit out I guess

    Another 90 Rebuild

I had the same problem with my exhaust. In the end I had to bend the existing bracket to fit had had to have the exhaust cut and joined. When it needs replacing I'm gonna get a custom stainless jobby

    Seized wiper wheel boxes

Wiper boxes aren't that much money (go for genuine), but it is a pain to change them. I did mine a few weeks ago (that turned out not to be seized)

Best mods for long distance motorway drives in a defender?

Mazda RX-8 seats in mine. They are pretty much the same width as the standard ones and fit without too much grief. Only negatives are I couldn't retain the centre seat and they are a bit more of an effort to get in and out of. Also, if you want to get to under the seats you have to take them...

There is a chance that we might be back in for this...watch this space!

Best mods for long distance motorway drives in a defender?

Defo, you wouldn't have been able to convince my other half to drive to Portugal in my 90 in standard form! Yes, defenders are capable of going long distances, but why not make them more comfortable so you can actually enjoy the journey? I have problems with my back and wouldn't have go 20...

Best mods for long distance motorway drives in a defender?

Soundproofing, wind deflectors and working vents if you don't have aircon, better seats, secondary fuel tank, make sure the steering box is in good order. We did 12 hours straight driving in my 90 last year and it was actually ok.

    Another 90 Rebuild

My thoughts are that if the dash lights dim a bit, it isn't the immobiliser. I had problems with that on mine and it just did nothing at all. It was an aftermarket imobiliser though. Are you sure you have all of the wires connected up properly on the starter motor? If not I'd probably suggest...

Mine has them, but my defender is at the farm, I shall get them tomorrow for you if someone else hasn't
