My gearbox in ex-MOD 110 V8 has developed some really nasty noises and difficult to engage 5th to 4th & 3rd to 2nd. The transfer box doesn't sound too good either. Do any of you clever folk know which alternative gearbox & transfer box will fit? Or is it a rebuild on the existing boxes?

No dilemma. If the '95 Discovery is really good, then keep it garaged. Be a nice classic to have in years to come. Use the D2 as daily driver without lolloping around corners and enjoy the extra horses.

Sounds as if your fluid is low. Level plug is really awkward and the proper fluid expensive but worth it. That would be first check, then put it on diagnostics to see if a solenoid is faulty. Does the HDC lamp come up when the ' box is miss behaving?

Thanks for your info on that. I like the NA and think it's underrated, I used them for thousands of miles in the Army and was never dissapointed. Good response cross country and decent on the road with a fully loaded Sankey. I'll go 20 thou as a compromise and see how it goes.
